I should probably start updating this more than once in a blue moon, huh. |D

I'm up to 90 minutes a night of internet time on my self-imposed online restriction. It gives me a bit more time to do tags and whatnot, but it's still not enough to really hang out and chat. I think what I miss doing most is just turning on AIM and reading a book or something while holding the occasional conversation. I feel like I have to be focused while online or I am Wasting Time. It's a different way to look at things, certainly; tbh, I just miss multitasking.

COMIC CON IS IN FIVE DAYS HOLY CRAP. WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN. I think this is the most convoluted and detailed any of my cosplays have ever been, and even now I'm still assembling bits. I live for the last minute, don'cha know 8Db It should be fun, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing all sorts of people and meeting [livejournal.com profile] bouncy_erbear! Because awesomeness attracts awesomeness, yes? Yes.

TBH, aside from freaking out about Comic Con and the upcoming move, nothing much of note is going on in the Life and Times of Kia. Work is work is work, and I usually get home from that and work on something - editing or cosplay or whatever needs working on. The huge Disney tribute is on hold for now, as is every other editing project I have going on, on account of - you guessed it - SDCC being right around the corner. My priorities might be a tad skewed, but I do have them. Also, most anime conventions won't let you enter a Disney music video, yes? It probably has to be mostly anime or game footage.

RP is...we're screwed. Just gonna lay that down. We are screwed. |D Also, I might not be tagging Jason for a bit because of recent NSFW Extremely Not Okay happenstances in this season of True Blood, so don't wait on me there.

Does anybody know what's going on at [livejournal.com profile] kh_drabble? It's a fun challenge, and we've had quite a few entries, but I don't remember any other time when there've been virtually zero comments on any of them. Is everyone just busy this week? \O_o/

Because this entry isn't disorganized enough: cosplay! Razor Wit finally arrived today, which means I went out of my mind for about an hour unpacking it and squeeing like a moron and trying to figure out picture poses (and subsequently scraping up one arm, but hey, worth it). I have odds and ends for most of my costumes, but my big thing's been putting together costumes for [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada. She's agreed to join our Friday MLP group, so I'm getting a Pinkie Pie costume together for her, and she chose her other one going solo, so I'm making her a Candlejack getup. That's bound to be hila

- IC I Never is a ridiculous amount of fun. Sunday proved that you can totally play against characters you don't know; Monday proved that it could be done over Skype, though in person is much better.
- Way in advance, but I'm really looking forward to this upcoming Gallifrey.
- I have a Plurk now! I have given in to the masses. The name is Kiaxet. Friend me.
- Second City is having a Fourth Wall Event! Throw your characters in! Have fun! Let's all be derps together!
- I drove for three hours in gray and drizzle today, all job-related, and it just wiped me out. LA traffic is not a happy thing.
- I can't figure out if I want to do Disneyland this weekend or not. I think it's going to wind up depending on Whether I Feel Like It Or Not the day of - no other factors. We'll see.

Finally - because this took me forever - I wrote another Bitty Terra drabble! There are only two left after this one. I'm almost done. It feels weird.

Either way, please beta the hell out of it and enjoy! :Db

Aqua had never thought a door could be scary. )

Saturday we went to a house party that Kristin and Megan's roommate was putting on. It was actually fun! Their coworker, who, swear to goodness, is named Kermit, is actually not a bad bartender (though the energy-drink-based drink he mixed on request was soooooo bad oh man). He's not the type of guy I'd like to geek with for too long, since he is Highly Opinionated and Always Right - it's the combination that's the killer, really - but there were about ten other people there to socialize with as well, and good company all around, and pizza, and Rock Band. I had no idea they had Pat Benatar's "We Belong" in Rock Band, but they do! There was a severe and woeful lack of Offspring and Journey, though. Also, songs that cater to vocalists over instruments were termed the "wine coolers of Rock Band." I'm a vocalist, but I might have to use that any because it is hilarious.

Disneyland! Disneyland Disneyland Disneyland! The rides were all sorts of fun, I got a shiny six-person pass simply for being polite (and likely for having my HAPPY BIRTHDAY button in plain view, but politeness helps too), I walked around for a good chunk of the night with a lightcycle painted on my face thanks to ElecTRONica, I managed to get a WDI Tiki Room pin (which is a rare thing, so I'm pleased), and we found out that they will be releasing a KH pin in the park in late June. What is this I don't even. You'd better believe I'm either camping out for that sucker or sending a proxy to do just that, because I want that badly especially in multiples. Trading is good 8D. Basically, I love this park, I love my roomies, and I love [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin - awesome Disneyland party is awesome. 8Db

So I walked into work exhausted. That was mistake number one. 8D

My task for this week, and basically until it gets done, is to put the audio into demo videos for a project that we have been working on literally since I started temping at my job in January. It's been a long time coming. The previous demo videos for this project have been easy - they came with one set of audio cut in all the right places, and all we had to do was input our audio in the right spots and remove the old stuff. Not so much this time around.

The new videos are timed too quickly for the audio, and I'd be up a creek without a paddle on that front if Camtasia didn't have a freeze-frame effect that lets me extend one frame as a still image. The script that tells me what audio goes at what time on the video is useless, since I had to extend frames in the video right off the bat and that throws everything out of whack. On top of that, I thought it'd be a good idea to cut all the audio at once instead of leaving it in one strip and cutting it as needed. I keep having to move audio further out to make room for all the wonky timing in the video, and Camtasia's inability to move multiple audio clips at once means I have to start at the end and move every one individually every time I need to lengthen the video.

I spent all day working on this video and have about five minutes of video to show for it. The video is ten minutes long. It is one of three videos for this module. There are ten modules.

This'll be fun. 8Db

Also, I have not forgotten about one-sentence fics and mini FSTs! I shall get to them eventually, promise. You can also still request one if you want one - I will get around to them. :Db
It's late, I'm bushed, and I've spent the entire day completely uninspired, even for tags. Wanna help me out and get fic or music in the process? Here's how:

1. Comment on this entry with a character or pairing and a genre of fanfiction (fluff, humor, smut, angst, etc.) and I will write you a one-sentence fic for it.

2. Comment with the name of a character, pairing, etc., in one of my fandoms/fandom we share. I'll post you an "instant" mini-fanmix: a cover and 3-5 songs that remind me of that character/pairing/show/etc. I'll upload the songs and everything!

Specify which prompt you want, or if you want both. I am fine with multiple characters, multiple prompts, multiple genres in prompt 1, crossovers...I just need to get writing again. Hopefully this will transfer into other things and I can finish 1) bitty!Terra drabbles; 2) KH/Tron: Legacy; or 3) BBS/MLP fic. Or the KH/Discworld drabbles, though those aren't as outstanding as these three.

Why is my writing list so long aaaaaaaa
THIS THREAD. THIS THREAD THIS THREAD THIS THREAD. I have not had Jaffa Cakes or Ben's Cookies in years and I have a craving something awful. Do any of my UK friends want to hook me up? I'll pay for cookies and shipping and everything and I'll send you something from California or LA or Disneyland or whatever, just...Ben's Cookies ;A;

That bit of withdrawal was about three years overdue, I think. |D In the meantime, I'm stalking that thread and sniping it sometime on the 24th.

As a reminder, my threads for [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth are here and here. Y'all know what to do. :Db

In other news, Art of the Dress is getting rewritten. After everything we've done at work? Yeah, it's happening. I might even sing it if I get fed up enough. One line that's not changing, however: "Deadline looms/Don't you know the client's always right?"

Speaking of fandom and derpery, I'm debating finding a land comm or a 20in20 challenge to join. I know about the Sailor Moon and Avatar ones, but I'm not really in either of those fandoms. Is there a KH one kicking around somewhere, or a general 20in20? I have exactly zero idea, so. \O_o/

Eventually I will finish one of my writing projects. Eventually.

I'm actually dead serious about the cookie thing, guys. Do want.
I managed to get most of the rest of the Bitty!Terra drabbles planned out this morning. Then I worked for eight hours. So much for that. :/ This one's a bit of a consolation prize. Not sure what it's supposed to be about or even what I was going for, but it's here and I think it worked out okay.

Terra screamed himself awake... )
It's been a while, huh. I need to quit neglecting this journal. As it is, it's after midnight and I have work in the morning, so this'll be a pretty quick rundown.

My dad is doing fine! He's been taking it easy and not working ridiculous hours anymore (glory hallelujah) and he's doing a lot better, at least according to mom. They've also found a house and put a bid on it, so we'll see how that goes. Will they be moved before the family reunion? Probably not, but they've definitely got their eyes on it.

My first video shoot went pretty well, all things considered. We shot video for a project at work on Friday - rented out a studio and everything. The talent we cast (that I spent time interviewing and basically got first say on who played who, yeah baby) worked really well together, and we got thirty scenes shot in about six hours - not bad at all, actually. There were a few tense moments, and one in which I managed to spill makeup on an actor's suit jacket (note to self: Leslie is doing the makeup from now on because ARGH), but overall it went pretty well. Rick was happy, Leslie was happy, Terrence was happy, and I was bushed, so I figure life is good.

In other news, getting LA County workers together for a conference call is like herding cats. I kind of want business cards with "professional cat herder" on them now. (And yes, I have seen the commercial, and yes, it is hilarious.)

Disneyland with [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin on Sunday! It was pretty low key, though I spent more on souvenirs then I think I ever have at Disneyland - blame it on getting my Disneyland In A Box prize together for my [livejournal.com profile] help_japan winner. The POTC preview that they have is amusing, Blackbeard freaks me the hell out and I love it, and the show beforehand is cute and hilarious by turns. On the downside, there is no group rate for special seats for Fantasmic, so I either need to finagle something or give up on that one for my birthday. We'll see how things go there. I do love spending time at that park, though - so lovely and relaxing. ♥

In RP news, I've got Jason Stackhouse in Second City - we've only gotten as far as him thinking Pinkie Pie is somehow a drug flashback, and I don't want to handwave things until that thread gets a little further, so we'll see. Linkara is in over his head - per usual - Rarity is loud and abuses italics like whoa - per usual - and Rosette...I'm really tempted to drop her, if only because nothing is happening with her. I think I'm past the point where I can successfully get into her head and play her well - my lack of interest and her lack of CR have pretty well made that obvious. Honestly, I think DC might've closed the book on things with her, and I've been trying to find an epilogue instead of enjoying it for the fantastic story it was. Again - and I have been using this phrase far too much - we'll see.

Finally, as if I don't do enough writing, I'm thinking of picking up one of those 100 Themes challenges and getting one down every day. Even if they're not all that good, if all else fails, it'll at least guarantee that I write 100 words every day, and I think I need something constant like that.

Yeah, that's about it. Bedtime now, I think.

It's been a month and some change since I've written a bitty!Terra drabble. Let's change that, shall we?

As always, this is spellchecked but unbeta'd and written under a fantastic bout of sleep deprivation. Have at it, guys.

Well aren't they precious. )
I've had these written since my Colorado excursion - I just haven't been incredibly happy with them. I'm posting them anyway because 1) I'm tired of the fic drought; 2) Disneyland is fun no matter what; and 3) pretty sure you guys will enjoy them anyway. Each one gets a video preface, because if you haven't been to Disneyland then these won't make a ton of sense. |Db

Without further ado, I present the next two installments of Take Two Grown-Ups.

Attention Space Travelers )

We're Gonna Do It Right This Time )
If you plan on voting in the kh_drabble contest today, DON'T READ THIS UNTIL AFTERWARDS. )

After all this, I'm curious: who else plays the writing scratch-off lotto? I want some stories, guys. Let's hear 'em. :3
This requires some explanation, I think.

You're all terrible and I love you all. )

There was a whole bloody lot more of that, but I actually need to sleep tonight. Instead, you get the fic. I'm not sure if this is a standalone or a chapter one, but it really needs a beta and I'm leaving it to the enablers to take care of that.

Being a Keyblade apprentice was a far different experience than Xehanort had expected. )

I swear I get bunnied by the simplest little things. Someone today left a review on the bitty!Terra drabbles that ended with the line, "I can't wait to see Terra earning his Keyblade! :D"

My thought process following this was, "Well, that's not going to be part of the story, though I do have pretty detailed headcanon for it- oh dammit I have to write this now." This happened at around 2 pm.

TWELVE HOURS LATER, it's done. It's also kind of long, to the tune of eight pages. And it needs a beta. And I am going to bed because oh gad sleep. Anyway, enjoy~

She shouldn't have been awake. )
Seriously, I either abandon this journal or I spam it like mad. What the hell, self.

I have more bitty!Terra! I actually fell asleep twice in the middle of writing this one, so I'm afraid it's disjointed in the middle. Please, please beta the hell out of this one. |Db

The day was sunny, the weather was warm, the market was still in full swing a little ways away, and Aqua had evidently decided that today was a good day to read outside... )
That title is yet another favorite from the drop-down menu of past titles because I am yet again lost for titles because I have YET AGAIN failed to post in this journal for...two weeks, I think.

Hi guys. :Db

A flipton of stuff has happened in that time, so I'll probably be brief and have short paragraphs and bullet points, because why not.

For starters, I'm going to WonderCon on April 1st up in San Francisco, so if you're up there, I'd be more than happy to meet you there and have awesome times. :Db

I'm officially being hired full-time to my job on March 28th. I've got Things To Do Before Then, but that list is getting smaller and I'm actually really excited for this. Good times? I think so.

Work got me a bonus. I am now the proud owner of a Barbados Brighton handbag - or at least, I will be once my order comes in. I absolutely love this bag and I am stoked and a half to finally own one.

Gallifrey was two weekends ago! I love Gally so bloody much. It was amazing. My little came all weekend and [livejournal.com profile] uk_not_ok joined us for Saturday and Sunday. I broke a record for ribbons, got ogled multiple times (hello, midriff top at convention), dressed as a pirate and dealt poker for the Friday night Rum Party - which ended in a Who Can Stick What Down Kia's Bust contest, which was interesting - and then proceeded to use my winnings to buy Captain Jack Harkness. Yes, that's correct. I also met a Spish! Spish was awesome! :Db Saturday was wandering, a hilarious masquerade, running out in pouring rain to get dinner at Denny's, watching Tony Lee in top form at several panels, fantastic stories in the Fans Behaving Badly panel, dancing by the TARDIS - now a Gallifrey tradition, and a whole lot of IC I Never. Best conversation of the night had to be between Dean Winchester and DEATH. Way too much fun there. Sunday was an attempt to stay coherent after Saturday night's shenanigans, including the charity auction, in which I got a Mirrormask poster for [livejournal.com profile] ghettopeach and filled in as a temporary Vanna White (at which point one of the people in the audience tried to bid on me...okay then). I made a few new Twitter friends, said goodbye and see you next year and why don't we hang out more often to quite a few people. My goal this year was not to have any pocket watch incidents and not to be a complete rabid fangirl - oh, and to have fun - and I think I succeeded admirably in all aspects.

All Gally pictures and videos are here - let me know if you have any questions or want any explanations. My personal favorite is the one in which Tony Lee has AIDS. Cute, fluffy AIDS.

I have a list of about four people to call tomorrow and assorted other things to do, but aside from that life's mostly been quiet. I particularly like that.

In fandom news, I have a list of in-progress projects for which I rather want to kick my brain. I have this terrible problem with starting things and petering out, so we'll see how things go. The list, for my sanity and your curiosity, is as follows:

Yes, these are all KH fics. Go, self. )

And, as promised, the first chapter of the MLP/BBS crossover. Because I'm a gigantic derp. Right. Whyisthissocuteeeeeeeee~

Okay, we're ponies. How is that better? )

Basically, Kia is a giant derp who does nerdy, nerdy things. Business as usual. Love you all. ♥
I wasn't going to post the first chapter until I finished it completely; however, I do have the first few scenes done, and I've been writing and posting consistently, and I figured I might as well get this party started at the beginning already.

I'm actually going to sleep for more than five hours tonight. Promise. @_@

In essence, you are her knight. )

For now, we take a break from the AU fic - there's more written; I just want to polish the scene before posting - and bring another bitty!Terra drabble. I don't think it's my best, but it works as a bridge, and that's what I needed.

-wait I already wrote the other side of that bridge, didn't I. You guys get two for the price of one today. :Db

And for everyone on my Flist who's sick of all the KH...I'll get back to other stuff, I promise. It'll happen. Just not tonight.

That said, enjoy~

You live here? )

He shifted uncomfortably, curling up tight as the first rays of the morning sun hit his face. )
I sat down for a scene and somehow got an entire chapter. It's not complete, but it's also nearly three in the morning and I have work tomorrow. The stopping place will have to do.

Those of you who wanted more medieval AU fic are getting their wish fulfilled rather handily here. |Db You guys enjoy. I'm gonna go sleep.

Tell me, what do you do to calm down? )
Eventually I will use my writing blog for writing and use this blog to talk about my life and whatnot. Its actual purpose. Stuff like that. Y'know.

But for the moment, the medieval trope-inverting AU fic that I thought about doing a while back has completely eaten my brain, to the point where I have it outlined and have a good deal of the ending bit completely planned out. For now, however, have a scene. :Db

Someday, I will learn to write things chronologically. Today is not that day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either. That doesn't mean I enjoy these things any less.

Had she been smiling, or was he losing his mind? )
We're back to bitty!Terra, guys. I doubt anybody here is surprised.

Unbeta'd, written late, posted for your reading pleasure. I think I'm going to call this series Where the Heart Is, if only because I'm a complete sap like that.

Eraqus knew how long waiting could seem, especially waiting fraught with worry. )
My roomie comes up with the best jokes, I swear. Even in the middle of Tron: Legacy. For the third time. Yes. :D

And eventually I will learn to write things in chronological order. Until then, I have another scene or half a scene, as the case may be from the KH3/Tron: Legacy fic. Unbeta'd, untitled, the usual. Have a good time, guys.

And writing Clu sets off my creeper alarm something awful. I'm going to go ahead and assume that means I'm doing something right. |Db

That grin was all the reason she needed not to trust him. It didn’t help that the lights on his suit all glowed orange. )
