That title is yet another favorite from the drop-down menu of past titles because I am yet again lost for titles because I have YET AGAIN failed to post in this journal for...two weeks, I think.

Hi guys. :Db

A flipton of stuff has happened in that time, so I'll probably be brief and have short paragraphs and bullet points, because why not.

For starters, I'm going to WonderCon on April 1st up in San Francisco, so if you're up there, I'd be more than happy to meet you there and have awesome times. :Db

I'm officially being hired full-time to my job on March 28th. I've got Things To Do Before Then, but that list is getting smaller and I'm actually really excited for this. Good times? I think so.

Work got me a bonus. I am now the proud owner of a Barbados Brighton handbag - or at least, I will be once my order comes in. I absolutely love this bag and I am stoked and a half to finally own one.

Gallifrey was two weekends ago! I love Gally so bloody much. It was amazing. My little came all weekend and [ profile] uk_not_ok joined us for Saturday and Sunday. I broke a record for ribbons, got ogled multiple times (hello, midriff top at convention), dressed as a pirate and dealt poker for the Friday night Rum Party - which ended in a Who Can Stick What Down Kia's Bust contest, which was interesting - and then proceeded to use my winnings to buy Captain Jack Harkness. Yes, that's correct. I also met a Spish! Spish was awesome! :Db Saturday was wandering, a hilarious masquerade, running out in pouring rain to get dinner at Denny's, watching Tony Lee in top form at several panels, fantastic stories in the Fans Behaving Badly panel, dancing by the TARDIS - now a Gallifrey tradition, and a whole lot of IC I Never. Best conversation of the night had to be between Dean Winchester and DEATH. Way too much fun there. Sunday was an attempt to stay coherent after Saturday night's shenanigans, including the charity auction, in which I got a Mirrormask poster for [ profile] ghettopeach and filled in as a temporary Vanna White (at which point one of the people in the audience tried to bid on me...okay then). I made a few new Twitter friends, said goodbye and see you next year and why don't we hang out more often to quite a few people. My goal this year was not to have any pocket watch incidents and not to be a complete rabid fangirl - oh, and to have fun - and I think I succeeded admirably in all aspects.

All Gally pictures and videos are here - let me know if you have any questions or want any explanations. My personal favorite is the one in which Tony Lee has AIDS. Cute, fluffy AIDS.

I have a list of about four people to call tomorrow and assorted other things to do, but aside from that life's mostly been quiet. I particularly like that.

In fandom news, I have a list of in-progress projects for which I rather want to kick my brain. I have this terrible problem with starting things and petering out, so we'll see how things go. The list, for my sanity and your curiosity, is as follows:

Yes, these are all KH fics. Go, self. )

And, as promised, the first chapter of the MLP/BBS crossover. Because I'm a gigantic derp. Right. Whyisthissocuteeeeeeeee~

Okay, we're ponies. How is that better? )

Basically, Kia is a giant derp who does nerdy, nerdy things. Business as usual. Love you all. ♥

Obligatory Super Bowl preamble: Pregame was okay, with the presentation about the Declaration of Independence being the best part; why Lea Michele performed, I'll never know; Christina, that was a terrible time to have a brain fart; DORITOS PROMOTE NECROMANCY and have creepy commercials; hell, almost all of the commercials this year were creepy or boring; the only good commercials were Volkswagon, Coke, Carmax, and that Lassie!truck spot; BEP have terrible stage presence and was unnecessarily political, I've seen better Tron cosplayers at cons, and that sound supervisor had a really bad night; neither team played very well, but the Packers played marginally better; overall, it was pretty bleh.

On the other hand, I really love my friends. Y'all are awesome. 8Db

/Super Bowl Preamble

In other news, HOLY HELL CONS.

SDCC passes get, thanks to Kroze. I need to start figuring out cosplay stuff for that.

I evidently have a pass for WonderCon, Ryune wants me to stay with her, and flights from LAX to San Francisco for that weekend are $88 each way on Southwest. I've all but decided to go.

And it only just hit me that Gallifrey is the weekend after next. What is this I don't even. I swear I haven't even been thinking about that. |D [ profile] betwixt_worlds, if there's a day you're not busy, can I pop by sometime and grab cosplay things from you? [ profile] estelofimladris, let me know what I can do to help with Pirate Party stuff and for sure if I should dress for it accordingly.

Usually I give myself more time to prepare than this. This totally took me by surprise this year. o_o

Gallifrey was awesome~

I have no idea when I'll have a full update, tbh. Tomorrow promises to be busy with Disneyworld prep, and I have a lot of pictures and videos to upload. Good times. :Db

I can, however, give you a bulleted list!

- Met Shannon
- Decided not to camp in the Masquerade line
- Tried the con cocktail
- Demo'd the new Doctor Who RPG (tabletop, woo!)
- Went to the Art Show
- Networked!
- Got autograph tickets
- The Dreamland commentary
- Remembered to bring Sharpies with me everywhere
- Remembered my Adipose
- Remembered my camera, fully charged
- Used my camera a metric ton
- Popped into the Liars Panel
- Popped into the 70 Years of Marvel Panel
- Got a flipton of autographs
- Had fun!

- Slept in on Saturday
- Split up with my friends for a good deal of Saturday
- Failed to get driving directions
- Forgot both pajamas and a toothbrush
- Got the Doctor eaten by a large plant
- The pocket watch fiasco
- /looks at bank account and just sobs

STUFF I GOT (Read: the reason I'm sobbing at my bank account):

- Pins: "Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock;" "I am not a twitard;" "You're not mating with me, sunshine!"
- The aforementioned Doctor Who tabletop game
- A matching set of dragons with dice prints that shall be framed and hung
- The Fugitive: the first six issues of the ongoing Doctor Who comic written by the fantastic [ profile] mrtonylee and gathered together in convenient prereleased book format
- Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf
- A TARDIS phone charm for [ profile] orelle_peredhil - that was as close as they got to a keychain I HOPE THIS IS ACCEPTABLE
- A flipton of autographs, to include one by a Mister Paul Cornell for one [ profile] ormery - It's on notebook paper because that's all I had at the time I HOPE THIS TOO IS ACCEPTABLE
- Another metric flipton of pictures and video
- ...a pocket watch

- "Every time a vampire sparkles, a kitten loses its wings."
- "Matt Smith likes drawing things with wires and pipes."
- "Stick Doctor Versus Stick Men with Horns!"
- "I crashed the internet with disappointment."
- "Do I have to call Hayley? Because I will call Hayley."

Those are just the quotes I can remember. Three are from Tony, one from his editor, and one from Shannon. I know my roomie and little had some awesome quotes but I just cannot remember them. |D And yes, there's a story behind most if not all of this.

By the way, all the Whovians on my flist? We are totally holding Skype sessions to do this RPG. It is hilarious and awesome. :Db

You know, if I'd known all my classes were going to be cancelled today, I would've called off work and gone to Disneyland with the rest of the Gallifrey attendees. Such is life, huh. XD I've got con prep to do anyways, so this was likely for the better. Yeeeeeeeayuh I'm stoked about Gallifrey tomorrow. :D

Aside from that, things have been relatively low-key around here. What-If Wednesday definitely ate my brain for a bit there, but I'm getting better. So far as classes and such go, it's been a lot of same-old-same-old. It's a very busy same-old-same-old, what with with a metric ton of reading and Songfest thrown into the mix, but it's still the same.

By the way, if you haven't bought Songfest tickets yet and you want to go, buy them. Saturday night's all but sold out already, and this year's show is going to be epic.

On an entirely different note, because of my internship, I will likely never be able to eat peanut butter again. For the love of all that is holy, guys, if you're going to sell your mouse and/or keyboard to a resale company, please clean it up before you do. That stuff is just gross.

Finally! Con update! For those of you who still don't know yet (and if you don't, where have you been), tomorrow at eleven a.m. my roomie, my little, and I are heading down to LA for Gallifrey One, the local Doctor Who convention. We'll be there all weekend, and there will likely be internet silence from me for the most part - I do have TxtLJ and a Twitter that I can update from my phone, but so far as responding to comments and such go, I'll probably not do much (if anything) until I'm home on Sunday. Internet costs moneys at the hotel, you see. If you need to get ahold of me, text me or dm me on Twitter. I shall return Sunday night or Monday morning with a metric ton of pictures and videos and such other things. :D

For those of you wondering what sort of shenanigans go on at said convention, I have examples from last year:

That is [ profile] mrtonylee being the emcee and full of awesome in general and yes, he is the guy who signed my comic to Christine. Still not sure how I'm gonna bring that one up. XD

So yes! That will be this weekend, and Disneyworld afterwards. I cannot wait until Spring Break *A*
Been a long few days, huh. Hey, Flist, ILU all ♥

Disneyland with [ profile] lynxgriffin on Monday was a blast~ We got there late, owing to a bit of a late start (because I didn't call off work, haha) and abnormally terrible traffic, but we definitely made a good day of it. The French Corner or French Kitchen or whatever it's called next to Pirates is actually a really good restaurant, so eating in the park more often is definitely a go. Despite a few rides being closed (Matterhorn ;~;) we did quite a bit. Favorite part of the day was in the Haunted Mansion - standing in the ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS AND NO DOORS, MWAHAHAHA, I wound up with a small frightened child holding my hand. Of course, once the lights came back up and she realized she wasn't hanging on to her mom like she'd thought, she was pretty embarrassed and her family will likely never let her live it down, but I thought it was cute.

Also, did anyone know there's a giant arts place near the front entrance? It's got all sorts of concept art for rides and such in it. Totally going to hang out in there for a while when we go back.

Basically, YAY DISNEY 8D

In other news, I'm still not over this cold. I don't sound like the living dead anymore, but I'm still coughing up a lung fairly frequently, which is usually bad kismet. Either that, or my lungs regenerate really fast. Either way, this needs to be gone before Gallifrey.

Which is a week from tomorrow, by the way.

[/insert gigantic fangirly squee here]

I'm going with [ profile] amorsinseramada, [ profile] travitaemorte, and my little who obviously needs a LJ. This one looks to be an absolute blast. Plus, now I can participate in hotel bar shenanigans. Mmm, shenanigans.

On a related note, what's a polite way of asking someone to fix an autograph? I met one of the guests at Comic Con last year, and he autographed my book to "Christine." He's going to be at Gallifrey again this year, as is the book's author, whom I would also like to have sign it (he's the artist). Is there any way to do this, or is it just going to be awkward as hell no matter what?

Also, what's everyone's opinion of putting this on a shirt and wearing it to the con? Y/N/M/LOLWUT?

Thus ends yet another disjointed episode of the life and times of Kia. I'll have Tuesday's Randomizer up when Sendspace stops hating me.

And I'm just using this icon because I like it. No other reason. :D

So! Dying of the plague. Grand old time, really.

No, it's not actually the plague. It's a rather miserable cold that I've had since Monday. I've taken two days off my internship and am just trying to stay awake and hydrated. Here's hoping I don't get my sisters sick at retreat tonight, because that would really suck. 8D Hopefully I'll manage some sleep, though - retreats generally aren't known for that, but I really do need it.

Yeah, I probably won't be online from this afternoon to tomorrow afternoon. Tags and such can wait, I suppose.

Speaking of tags, Facilier's been silent for far too long. Either things are being planned or he's just. Being quiet. Crazy behatted voodoo man ._.

I was going to have a semi-amusing rant about lemon honey hibiscus flavored knockoff Emergen-C, but I think I'll leave that one for now. Just be warned that that stuff is awful. Why anyone would want their drink to taste like flowers, I have no idea.

Who all on my flist is going to Gallifrey? Goodness knows I don't see you all often enough.

And hey, [ profile] lynxgriffin - Disneyland sometime soon? I am in dire need of some happy.

And on a final note, I do love this video. It's such a trip. isn't so. |D

I've spent the entire day just feeling utterly disconnected from reality. I can't tell if it's sleep deprivation (which is definitely a possibility) or something else entirely. I know I don't usually get this out of whack when the general comes to visit, so I'm hesitant to blame that (though it does explain a whole lot).

So I found out the other day that Gallifrey's new dates are the first weekend of my spring break. Um. Oops. 8D; That means [ profile] orelle_peredhil likely is not coming and [ profile] amorsinseramada's presence is still up in the air. I chatted with my mom about it today, though, and she's actually pretty zen with it, which is definitely a surprise. [ profile] travitaemorte, it might just be you and me, and that is perfectly awesome.

...not a single one of us has an English LJ. I kind of love that. XD

I picked up USA Today on a whim and started reading. On page 2 (that's the inside front page), there's an article about Obama's push to get the Olympics held in Chicago. Okay, cool, we've been hearing about that for a week or so.

On page 3, the page facing it, there's an article about a high school student being murdered in a crossfire between gangs and gang violence being on the rise in Chicago.

Does anybody else see the problem with this.

More to the point, how did nobody at the paper's offices not catch it? yes. This is my life. |D

Gallifrey is this weekend and I'm leaving in a matter of minutes. ILU all and I'll see you on Sunday~ ♥
( Feb. 12th, 2009 01:26 am)
Ever have one of those days when everything is going fine, and then you realize you have a metric flipton of stuff to do the next day and suddenly you're keyed? It's not the good kind of keyed either, but the oh-shit-I'm-out-of-time keyed?

Yeah, I just did that about an hour ago. I was originally doing fine - everything for tomorrow was done, I had tomorrow planned out, and I'd just found my "Smart Things I've Done/Dumb Things I Gotta Do" list pads. Life was good.

Then I started making lists.

I now have three. Tomorrow is ridiculously full, and it's only just starting to occur to me that I'm leaving for Gallifrey in thirty-six hours. This is probably because I've done zero prep for Gallifrey. I. Um.

I was going to go to bed an hour ago. |D

Yeeeeeeeeah this should be interesting.
I know I've been bugging you a lot, but I want to get this all figured out and I keep everything in my LJ anymore, so. Yes. Bugging you.

Things we need to figure out:

- When we're leaving (checkin time is at 3 according to the hotel)
- Splitting the room and parking (math I will figure out)
- Valentine's Day (...stuff? I think?)
- Meals (I was planning on bringing sandwiches and fruit and stuff up with us so we wouldn't have to spend $$$ eating out every day. The con suite also generally has good stuff)
- Other things I have forgotten at two in the morning yes. There shall be poking. :D

So most people know I'm going to this crazy Doctor Who convention, right?

Well, last time I checked the guest list the most impressive guest was Gareth David Lloyd, the actor who plays Ianto on Torchwood. [ profile] orelle_peredhil told me to check the list again today. It now includes:

Frazer Hines, who played Jamie
Nicola Bryant, who played Peri
Wendy Padbury, who played Zoe
Kai Owen, who plays Rhys on Torchwood
Phil Collinson, producer of all four seaons of New Who

But the one that caught my eye?

Colin Baker, who played the Sixth Doctor

Tutors in the writing center really aren't supposed to squee like morons. Guess who broke that rule.

...I'm so excited *A*

ETA: Haha got my Bakers mixed up. STILL EXCITED :D

Room reservations are made. I said there'd be 4 people anyways in case somebody like my roomie whom I'm still trying to convince decides to join in.

Also, evidently Gallifrey has a group discount for Disneyland parkhopper tickets good from February 8th to the 22nd. Sounds good to me~ :D

All that's left is to buy a ticket. I am so looking forward to this year~ \o/

We need to start talking Gallifrey. There's a post up on the website reminding people to make hotel reservations now, and I think that's what we should be doing. You have two friends who want to come as well, right?

Right now rooms are $120/night (plus tax) going at the Gallifrey rate. If we don't get one of those, we'll have to pay full rate for rooms. At the Gallifrey rate, one room with four people in it is about $68.48 per person.

So, who's going and what are we doing? I'd like to get these made before they run out of space.

I am returnified from Gallifrey One: Nineteenth Symphony.

I remember why I love going to cons.

It was small.

I met a few people I wasn't expecting.

I saw my first episode of Torchwood.

And once I get my paper that's due tomorrow done, I'll be doing a huge epic picture-filled writeup of the entire weekend.

And I'm so pre-registering for next year.
