I've been really, really busy, and I really should've been updating this journal consistently, but I'm a lazy bum and you all know that. No ponies this time - just lots and lots of text.

The Wedding! )

Disneyland! )

E3! )

In other, non-huge-event-related news, work's going smoothly - we finished one project and have another almost done, huzzah :D - I managed to find someone to make Razor Wit for $300 including shipping, RP's going well (until the mods throw another curveball at us, but hey, that happens), and I'm thinking of trundling down to Disneyland again on the 18th if anyone's interested. Also, I got a bitty!Terra drabble written for the first time in over two months - having nothing to do while your car gets new tires will definitely give you some focus.

So basically, life's pretty good. I'm okay with this. |Db
As it stands, I have two jobs: A part-timer at Brighton, and a part-timer at Hickory Farms.

Brighton pays $9/hour with the potential to earn merchandise (and if you've seen Brighton merchandise, it is absolutely beautiful). Hickory Farms pays $8.50/hour. I'm going in for training for Brighton on Sunday and I'm stopping at Hickory Farms afterwards - here's hoping I can do morning shifts at one place and evening at the other and, between the two, wind up with around 40 hours a week of work. That'd be nice. It would also pay the rent for another month or two, so. Good times.

Somehow, oncoming employment still hasn't quite sunk in yet. I have no idea why this is.

Today is Gamma Games, followed by church, and hopefully with some writing in between. I've made some decisions on Terra's back story, so hopefully that'll go a bit easier.

My week has been nuts. ;;; CALM DOWN, WEEK! STOP THE MADNESS!

Sunday was, of course, fantastic. Time at Disneyland always is, as is dinner at the Blue Bayou. I do want to go to California Adventure again, though - it's been quite a while. Per usual, Space Mountain is fantastic and Captain EO is eighties and awesome. Good times. |D

Monday, my cold came back with a vengeance. I nearly fell asleep standing up in choir and I started shaking in my thesis class, to the point where I couldn't function. Of course, that made for an early night Monday and an email to my internship to get Tuesday off, because I seriously needed that day to recover. This, of course, means Tuesday was low-key, relatively sane, and virtually useless. Lots of sleeping did happen, though, and Dad was here for dinner, which meant Duke's.

And Glee premiered for this half of the season. I love Glee. So much. If you have not yet seen Glee, watch Glee. Glee Glee Glee. 8D

Today was insane. I know I'm working for four hours, but doing the quick half-skim reading that I do for for work for four hours straight is just. Argh. ;;; I was absolutely braindead by the time I was over, and it did not help that my middle appointment rubbed me wrong. He didn't really do anything wrong - he was just the type that I just did not get along with. Argh.

On the upside, there was a dance party tonight! Delta Tau Delta knows how to raise money for teenage rheumatoid arthritis, is all I'm saying. :Db

Also, tonight was Senior Celebration with Gamma Phi, which was pretty much free food and everybody telling everybody else how awesome they are and sharing memories. I love my sisters and they love me, so. Good times indeed. I shall miss them. ;~;

In geekier news, I finally managed to hatch all my eggs (all at once because I am an insane person)and finally got another female Eevee, so if anyone wants one of seven male Eevees with generic Christian male names (John, Jeff, Rory, etc), I shall be more than glad to give one to you. Of course, I hear Jolteons are pretty good, so I might go for one of those and see how things work out. IDK. I also managed to run into Entei and Raikou within twenty minutes and three routes of one another, so yeah. It's been a crazy night.

Oh! Anyone who has a Twitter! I have a favor of sorts to ask of you. I'm running the Twitter for my internship-come-job and it's still in it's beginning stages, so I'm trying to get it off the ground. If you guys wouldn't mind following it, it's going to be a lot of tech news and discussion topics and a bit of advertising, because we sell computer hardware, so if you know someone who's in the market for a TV or a laptop or a game system...well. |Db The Twitter name is eDEXdeals for the interested. Thanks in advance! :Db

And yes, with that I think it's time for bed. Anaheim Comic Con and Choir Concert and Senior Ball and goodness knows what else this weekend. Ahaha good times |Db

Incidentally, does anyone know how to revive writing inspiration? Mine's left me and I really don't want to leave that fic alone.

Retreat was so much fun. Catch Phrase will always be awesome with my fellow G Phis. XD Also, Valentine's Day (the movie that just came out) is pretty good. Kind of like Love Actually, but all in the span of 24 hours instead of a few months. It was very well done.

Also, it's great to hear one of your sisters yell, "YOU DICK!" right in the middle of a theater. It just makes the experience.

In other news, MST3K and Red vs Blue with friends are just so awesome. Apartmentmates + [ profile] amorsinseramada + [ profile] lynxgriffin = win. :Db

So! Dying of the plague. Grand old time, really.

No, it's not actually the plague. It's a rather miserable cold that I've had since Monday. I've taken two days off my internship and am just trying to stay awake and hydrated. Here's hoping I don't get my sisters sick at retreat tonight, because that would really suck. 8D Hopefully I'll manage some sleep, though - retreats generally aren't known for that, but I really do need it.

Yeah, I probably won't be online from this afternoon to tomorrow afternoon. Tags and such can wait, I suppose.

Speaking of tags, Facilier's been silent for far too long. Either things are being planned or he's just. Being quiet. Crazy behatted voodoo man ._.

I was going to have a semi-amusing rant about lemon honey hibiscus flavored knockoff Emergen-C, but I think I'll leave that one for now. Just be warned that that stuff is awful. Why anyone would want their drink to taste like flowers, I have no idea.

Who all on my flist is going to Gallifrey? Goodness knows I don't see you all often enough.

And hey, [ profile] lynxgriffin - Disneyland sometime soon? I am in dire need of some happy.

And on a final note, I do love this video. It's such a trip.

I keep getting fanarted. I suppose I should stop describing tarot cards in Facilier's posts, huh. 8D

Bid night was tonight! I finally have a name twin, which should prove to be interesting. She's a Disney nut, though, so this is awesome and win. Also, I finally got my little to watch The Princess and the Frog. She said it may well be her new favorite Disney movie and I squeed with joy. She is totally my little. :Db

Date tomorrow. No idea what I should wear~

...yeah today was uneventful. 8D /SPAMS FLIST UNNECESSARILY

( Jan. 27th, 2010 08:32 pm)

I completely managed to miss the last recruitment event tonight. I thought it was at seven p.m. It was at one. Good job self. |D

I suppose I should go do apps and reading for class tomorrow (which I just received tonight, huzzah huzzah). Given that Neil Patrick Harris is the guest judge for Idol tonight, that might not happen for a bit.
I had a pretty chill Saturday. Huzzah for sleeping in until eleven and not caring about it. I was highly pleased with that development. I still have stuff to do, but it's not OMG PRESSING like the paper was, so I should be alright. I still need to do script analysis and monologue work for Monday, though.

I have discovered it's pretty much impossible to practice that monologue anywhere. I mean, let me just give you the first paragraph:

"I understand school shootings. I mean, I don't say, 'Hey, great idea! Let's all solve our problems with violence!' But I do understand the feeling of wanting to kill everyone in my school, or at least a select few to set an example. You can only be spit on so many times. The great thing is, nowadays everyone's so scared of guns I probably won't even have to shoot anyone."

She then starts talking about why sociopaths are better than psychopaths and how God's going to be making up for the fact that she had a lousy prom for the rest of her life. Obviously this is not a highly stable individual speaking here. That, and the fact that the monologue is going to be performed near top volume and a bit off kilter, means I haven't got a place to practice it the way I'm going to perform it - not if I want to avoid scaring the hell out of people and a call to Public Safety's emergency line. Should be very interesting come performance time Monday morning.

Still having epic and fantastic issues with stage dance class and videos, huzzah huzzah. I also managed to be double-booked again tomorrow night without even knowing it: Sigma Tau Delta event and Gamma Phi officer transitioning, which I only today found out would be tomorrow. *rubs forehead* Sigma Tau Delta was there first and won out. I have no idea how the hell this keeps happening. ._.

At least the PIT show tonight was epic. Pepperdine Improv Troupe is just fantastic, and tonight was no exception. We had a pretty small audience - weather sucked and people were studying, I guess - and the suggestions got interesting. My favorite was:

"Okay, what's something fun to do on a weekend?"

"Lady Gaga."

That wound up being a very interesting skit, I tell you what. Since it was holiday themed, we had some great sketches, including a mini-musical entitled "Candy Cane" and a sketch about workers in a poinsettia factory. This included one worker complaining about another, who "has a huge afro" and "started hiding poinsettias in his afro, so now the boss wants us all to grow afros and put poinsettias in them. Thinks it'll look festive."

[ profile] aviekokyre, I thought of you and Derek. |Db

And then there was Brawl to be had with [ profile] amorsinseramada and [ profile] lynxgriffin because they are awesome. I even won a few rounds, which does not usually happen. Yay self~

Life gets busy again tomorrow - better go prep for that. By prep, I of course mean sleep. |Db

[ profile] bouncy_erbear, we totally need to plan awkward moments. |Db
I was going to go to bed, and then I went, hey, I should update my LJ! Surely people want to know how my day went at half past two in the morning. Who needs the extra sleep? Certainly not someone who intends to marathon half a paper the next day!

That's the part I'm going to regret, I think.

That said, I think today went alright. The interview at SodaHead went down pretty well, I think - we might have issues with hours since they seem to want someone who can come in at around the same time every day and my schedule is set up with two and a half class days and two and a half free days, so we'll see how that works out. Demonstrating online proficiency, especially proficiency with the site, and being an English major helped me out, I think. Yay writing!

So yes. We'll see how that one goes.

The Gamma Phi Christmas party tonight was fun. Real casual affair up at the G Phi house - I spent half the night on a large pink beanbag, half asleep. I was bushed. I also saw Elf for the first time, which was...definitely interesting. Also, we did a Secret Santa! ...and mine wasn't there, so I'll have to track her down on campus sometime and get her her gift. Either way, the party was fun.

I swear, my littles coordinated on Christmas gifts. One of them gave me a silver bracelet with blue beads and hearts and such on it, and the other gave me one of those glass pendants that's on a few ribbons and cords - kind of like this, but a blue and white heart and blue cords. They collaborated, and now I have to figure out the secret to wearing pendants like that.

OH YES. LYNX. We should meet on Saturday to exchange stuffs, yes?

AND. COLIN. IM me sometime and we'll chat about musical shoutouts and such other things.

Why are the Woot shirts so awesome nowadays, seriously. I can't go buying two in a row - that would not be smart. That does not make it any less waaaaaant.
FIRST! To everyone who commented on my previous post: what do you say to a sporking party tonight? Everyone get on AIM at the least, we'll coordinate going on Skype, I'll bring the footage, and a good and hilarious time shall be had by all. I'm thinking around 8 pm Pacific time, possibly earlier if need be. Let me know if you're in. :D

SECOND! I come with proof that Gamma Phi has the best formals ever:

I rest my case.
Whoever planned this week needs to never do that again. Don't get me wrong, I love my sisters to death. Thing is, I'm not sure I want to see them for mandatory events every day for eight days.

Well, okay, tonight's formal wasn't mandatory - was an absolute blast, actually - but the point still stands. That is just waaaaaaay too much stuff back to back. Fortunately, all we've got left is the Gamma Games meeting Saturday and Gamma Games itself, as well as formal chapter, on Sunday. Hopefully I'll have some energy before then.

The rest of this post will probably be about RP, so those of you who don't care about that aspect of my internet life can skip the cut. |D

...oh dammit that's not the entire issue.

Cut the second. I lied - it's not all about RP. )

I've been telling people I've been marking time until Thanksgiving break, and while that's true, I don't think it's the whole truth. I think I'm just marking time until this semester is over. I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it actually was, and that certainly came back to bite me in the ass.

First of all, today's Woot shirt is awesome. I already bought one. |D YAY COLLEGE STUDENT ANTHEM

All this crazy Gamma Phi activity over the week culminated in Initiation tonight. Can't say too much about the ceremony, but I do love my littles. Jen's package arrived just in time (read: this morning), so everyone got everything they were supposed to, and I somehow got a package from Canada faster than I got a package from Amazon. Will wonders never cease. THANK YOU JEN THEY LOVED EVERYTHING ♥

Of course, "culminated" might not be the right word, seeing as Formal is Friday night, Gamma Games meeting is Saturday, and Gamma Games itself is Sunday.

SPEAKING OF WHICH. If you're on Pepperdine campus, come to Gamma Games! We're raising money for Camp Laurel, and you get to come watch fraternity guys compete in athletic events, including sack races. Have you ever seen guys do sack races? It's hilarious. Plus, we have some pretty awesome raffle prizes, and it's all for a good cause. 11:30-2 at Alumni Park this Sunday! BE THERE. YAY. :Db

On a completely different note, I somehow wound up with only one class on Monday. Theater is individual monologue coachings, and mine isn't until after Thanksgiving. Lit Theory is individual appointments to talk about final papers, and mine's at 3, which does not require me to get up early, and then there's Choir. Stage dance is the next day, and then I'm heading home, huzzah~ YAY TURKEY AND BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING

Speaking of shopping, y'all need to tell me what you want for Christmas. I will be doing shopping then.

And I also have my wish list up - I just posted it to [ profile] holiday_wishes (which is an awesome community that you should totally go check out), so I figured I'd throw it up here as well:

Yaaaaaaay wish list and yes I do realize this is before Thanksgiving even I just like getting a head start |D )

You can totally tell this was written with a wider, not personally known audience in mind, huh. KNOW THY AUDIENCE. HELL YEAH I'M A WRITING MAJOR.

But seriously, guys. Donate to those kids with AIDS. They're so cute and you all know summer camp is awesome~

On yet another random note, I got a great recipe yesterday. If someone's willing to take me to Ralph's real quick to pick up ingredients, I can definitely promise you a share of the Pumpkin Cheesecake this weekend. :Db
I generally go too far between serious updates - or at least updates with some modicum of content - on this journal, don't I. Good job, self. |D

Either way, you're getting one, and I warn you it is long and image heavy in spots.

First of all, because I feel like I have to say this, I've found something awesome: this guy. I know, doesn't look like something I'd listen to, right? Well, listen to his Nocturnal Sunshine podcast (you can get it free on iTunes) - every episode is an hour of steady, repetitive, easily ignorable techno best classified as upscale background noise. This is to say, I've found the best homework music ever. XD

Don't tell my brother. He actually went to see this guy when he came to Denver this summer. My brother would disown me. Then again, we only just convinced said brother to come to Hawaii with the family instead of spending New Year's with his girlfriend, whom nobody likes, so...yeah. YAY FAMILY.

Said girlfriend just tried to friend me on Facebook. That's just a whole new definition of awkward.

But yes. Other stuff. Halloween is other stuff, right?

It better be, 'cause that's what you're getting under the cut. )

Of course, then Sunday night was juuuuuust fantastic. I'm never getting the chicken salad sandwich at the Cheesecake Factory again, I can tell you that much. (I will still, however, get their cheesecake. That is not what made me ill.)

The rest of this week has basically just been recovery. We did a Randomizer show, but the recording equipment was busted and I therefore have no episode for you guys this week. Sad. :( I'm also supposed to have written a paper on Sunday night, but that did not happen. Paper is still not written and might not get written until Saturday because I am just bushed. I also have an interview with Dex tomorrow - evidently they still want me, so I'm heading out there, trying to sound intelligent, and praying this goes through because paid internships are incredibly few and far between. It would be a nice feather in my cap for next semester. Wish me some good luck for that one. |D

The girl in the middle? That's my little. She's dressed as Kaylee.

My little is a Browncoat (and you'd better believe we're converting her twin). I could not be more pleased. :3

The subject has nothing to do with the content, really. It's just been a very long time since I've used it.

So yes. I've been telling everyone that my weekend's going to be shot for quite a while now, and there's a good reason why: it's Family Weekend, Blue and Orange Madness, and Spirit Cup all in one these next few days, and I have three different organizations vying for my attention. So I have:

Stage Dance 10-12
Parent Check-In 3-5 (Doug asked all the NSO leaders to volunteer to help this weekend, so I signed up)
Hanging with younger siblings of students 5-7 (Again, NSO - pulling double here since nobody signed up for this shift)
Blue and Orange Madness/Spirit Cup 7-9 (Sorority, mostly - supporting our booth and our team in the lip sync competition, and maybe taking a few minutes to go mess around in the Village, get some In N Out...stuff)
Sleepover at Gamma Phi house 9-on

Camp Laurel Ride-a-thon 5-4 (Camp Laurel is Gamma Phi's philanthropy, and they're doing a fundraiser of their own in Santa Monica, so we're heading down to go help them. Yes, that is five a.m. to four p.m.)
Choir concert for Parents' Banquet 5:45-7
PIT Show 8:30-10:30

Mass 10:30-11:30
Scholarship Tea 2:30-3:30
Chapter 7-8

Somewhere in here I need to read a play and write a paper. This weekend's gonna be nuts. |D

Really should've posted this last night, but I came home flat bushed, so. Twelve hours late ain't bad. |D

Why was I in such a mood on Sunday? Because I really had no reason to be. Because my new sisters are awesome.

...that's not big enough. Lemme try again.

Girls I was worried about not getting in got in, I met girls I love, and life is just generally really great. :D In addition, I'm going to be trying to work with COB events this week, so hopefully that will be getting to know my new sisters and possibly gaining even more new sisters, yay~

We have a pledge class of twenty-two. That's our entire chapter over again. I just could not be more pleased :D This year's recruitment was fantastic. And then we all went bowling and just had a fantastic time (although I will forever be calling Lauren "Reeses Pieces" and it's all Natalie's fault).

So yes. I am just ridiculously happy about all that right now.

OH. AND. A day late but nonetheless VERRAH IMPORTANT:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [ profile] amorsinseramada!♥~~~

And tonight we go to Borderline. Boy am I looking forward to that. X3
Now that I've had a taste of all my classes, I think I can make an assessment of how the semester's going to go, at least academically: great. :D

Intro to Acting: I love this class so far. The prof is awesome, it's small and full of people I know, and it's acting. Everyone's got a sense of humor, too, which really helps. Now if only my books would come in.

Lit Theory: This is going to be the monster class. Upsides are, it's taught by Dr. Goodman (who was my rhetoric prof last year), it has a ton of people I know and like in it, and I get to do Life of Pi. Yay Life of Pi. :3

Choir: Evidently our choir director's retiring after this year, which makes this year pretty special. I hadn't realized just how much I missed singing and sheet music and this entire class until I walked back in for the first time since freshman year. Choir is awesome. *A*

Stage Dance: I just did this class this morning and wow. I hadn't realized how much I missed dance either, or yoga (because we start off with an hour or so of yoga. Heck yeah). Also, we went around at the beginning and talked about what "dance" made us think of, and I admitted to being a geek and told the class about EBA. Bill (the prof) wants me to bring it in on Friday to show people. Geekery, it seems, is contagious. |D

Overall, I don't think the academic (paper-writing) load will be too ridiculous - Lit Theory is my only paper-heavy class, and Stage Dance and Acting only require short papers sporadically throughout the semester. Dance, Acting, and Choir all require a lot of extracurricular events (seeing plays, seeing musicals, multiple performances, etc) so I might be doing some very interesting schedule juggling, especially on top of sorority stuff (which is already taking over my weekends) and Dance In Flight, which I plan on doing this year (and whose auditions take place during sorority recruitment training. Um).

So basically I plan on being busy in entirely different ways this semester. Should be interesting.

Homework tiems now.
