Returned! Okay, I think it'd be better just to give you examples of AMVs I feel have what I outlined in my first comment, despite the fact that I might have dubious taste because at least you'd have something concrete to work with for next time.

There are also spoilers, but I think they all fall under 'You Should Know This By Now,' so you've been warned. A little.

Pivotal is a great technical example of having the rhythms match. The scenes aren't necessarily flowing naturally (although I assume that's the actual scene with some minor editing), but the timing of the music and the scenes are well-synchronized and complement each other excellently. THE BASS MAN, THE BASS. LOOKIT HOW IT ADDS TO THE DRAMA, IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. He/she did have to edit the song to extend it, but they kept it to a bare minimum.

Actually, I have so many Anime Boston winners bookmarked that you could just Youtube those and probably have a good feel, but I'll add a couple more.

Falling Dreams is the only KH AMV I have bookmarked and downloaded. Full stop. I'd recommend just going to AMV.org or whatever it is and downloading the actual thing since this is a so-so recording but it's an instance where the story of the song and the footage don't necessarily match, but it still meshes well because the tone it's conveying fits.

This one's a Nico-Nico video but I'M GOING TO LINK IT ANYWAY. If we want to pretend this is relevant, just think of it as an example of how completed the entire thing should feel.

Another winner, but for a specific category. I can't remember what it was but the editing's solid and again, the sound and footage have the same feel. Seriously, I can't decide whether the song itself fits or not, but it sounds like it does.

ANOTHER Boston one, but amazing synchronization and editing. I don't know if it's possible to achieve that in Movie Maker but YOU SHOULD TRY. As it says, it won Best Comedy and for a good reason.

I'm going to make this the final one since wow I spent a half-hour putting all of this together, but this was apparently well-known once (they even referenced it in AMV Hell). I normally hate a bunch of effects in videos, but it works relatively well here. I'm also just plain biased based on the series of choice.

OH WAIT I got one last minute one. It's not a winner (it's not even complete) but this is pretty good for a rough one. Besides, you need a fun one after all of those other links.

OH YES, ALSO NOTE THIS: A good chunk of those songs/bands are ones very commonly used for AMVs. The fact that they still managed to come out winners should have you paying attention to how they might have made those songs interesting again.

Also if you're Youtubing Anime Boston, just skip 2010. It was a pretty tame year. I ALSO LIED ABOUT 2007, it was an awesome year for videos. Hall Om Mig looks like it was a 2006 winner.
