YAY FINALLY 8D

For those of who who didn't see it in my linking frenzy last night, I have finally finished my video and put it up:

It is absolutely spoilery as hell for BBS, so if you haven't finished the game and don't want to be spoiled, please don't watch it. Yet. Feel free to come back once you're finished. |Db

Also, my headcanon and world building for the Land of Departure randomly worked itself in twenty minutes or so last night, so expect a series of drabbles centered around world building and how Terra and Aqua became apprentices. Expect them to be cute, for it is pretty much impossible to write bitties without it being cute.

...as a bit of a warning, I have a spoilery icon I really want to use, so that'll probably show up in comments. So's you knows. |D

To make this yet another entirely KH-themed post, let's have another day of that meme:

8. Favorite World

Ooh, that's another tough one. Huh. Probably Mulan for KH2, because I love the turns the story took in there, I loved the enemies and bosses (even though the freaking centaur Heartless were awful at lower levels), and surprise!Riku is always a bonus. In BBS, it's got to be Cinderella's world, because of consolation!fail!Terra, tiny!Ven, and graceful!Aqua. And the carriage. And the fact that Fairy Godmother is possibly the best magical character in the game and I want her in my party. And "What are you doing in my house?!" Basically, this world was hilariously awesome in all three stories.

1. Favorite Character
2. Least Favorite Character
3. Favorite Keyblade Design
4. Favorite Song from the games

17. Favorite Drive and/or Command Style
18. Most Frustrating Mini Game

Actually, I think Land of Dragons is one of the shining examples of how not to adapt a Disney world to KH. XDa
Mulan is an awesome party member, and the bosses are awesome, but the story just makes me cock my head to the one side and go "Why did you do that?" I mean, Mulan was outted because Mushu randomly popped up in front of Shang and refered to her as a girl? That was just... *facepalm*

On the other hand, I think that all of the worlds in BBS a were shining example of the right way. Everyone was in character, there were no wierd changes made to acommidate the heroes. I can't stop heaping praise on BBS's writing, it really was one of the best in the series.

BRING ON THE WORLD BUILDING FICS SO THAT I MAY INCORPORATE THEM INTO MY HEAD CANON! AND BITTIES SO MANY BITTIES!

Also, your video is still awesome and I told you this yesterday! It's a very Aqua-esqe song but of course incorporates Ven and Terra into it as well because it's impossible not to <3 I love it.

This isn't going to sound gentle since it's via text, but I think the natural rhythm of the video and the song don't mesh together at all. The choice ofscenes and editing is good (particularly with the craptacular Movie Maker), but the sound of the song is too calm for the visuals you give, particularly later on in the video.

I also admit some bias because I heard it and immediately went "oh, that excellent cover of my favorite!" and think the association with FFIX is too strong, but it probably isn't as much an issue for some people because IX is THAT ONE GAME in the fandom. The bigger dilemma just seems to be the general feel of it. I'd go into more detail but HERP I have to run to my voice lessons now, so I apologize if this comes off overly callous! I know you're doing it for funsies and this my feebly blunt attempt to help you.

Returned! Okay, I think it'd be better just to give you examples of AMVs I feel have what I outlined in my first comment, despite the fact that I might have dubious taste because at least you'd have something concrete to work with for next time.

There are also spoilers, but I think they all fall under 'You Should Know This By Now,' so you've been warned. A little.

Pivotal is a great technical example of having the rhythms match. The scenes aren't necessarily flowing naturally (although I assume that's the actual scene with some minor editing), but the timing of the music and the scenes are well-synchronized and complement each other excellently. THE BASS MAN, THE BASS. LOOKIT HOW IT ADDS TO THE DRAMA, IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. He/she did have to edit the song to extend it, but they kept it to a bare minimum.

Actually, I have so many Anime Boston winners bookmarked that you could just Youtube those and probably have a good feel, but I'll add a couple more.

Falling Dreams is the only KH AMV I have bookmarked and downloaded. Full stop. I'd recommend just going to AMV.org or whatever it is and downloading the actual thing since this is a so-so recording but it's an instance where the story of the song and the footage don't necessarily match, but it still meshes well because the tone it's conveying fits.

This one's a Nico-Nico video but I'M GOING TO LINK IT ANYWAY. If we want to pretend this is relevant, just think of it as an example of how completed the entire thing should feel.

Another winner, but for a specific category. I can't remember what it was but the editing's solid and again, the sound and footage have the same feel. Seriously, I can't decide whether the song itself fits or not, but it sounds like it does.

ANOTHER Boston one, but amazing synchronization and editing. I don't know if it's possible to achieve that in Movie Maker but YOU SHOULD TRY. As it says, it won Best Comedy and for a good reason.

I'm going to make this the final one since wow I spent a half-hour putting all of this together, but this was apparently well-known once (they even referenced it in AMV Hell). I normally hate a bunch of effects in videos, but it works relatively well here. I'm also just plain biased based on the series of choice.

OH WAIT I got one last minute one. It's not a winner (it's not even complete) but this is pretty good for a rough one. Besides, you need a fun one after all of those other links.

OH YES, ALSO NOTE THIS: A good chunk of those songs/bands are ones very commonly used for AMVs. The fact that they still managed to come out winners should have you paying attention to how they might have made those songs interesting again.

Also if you're Youtubing Anime Boston, just skip 2010. It was a pretty tame year. I ALSO LIED ABOUT 2007, it was an awesome year for videos. Hall Om Mig looks like it was a 2006 winner.

Even with hope, I'll still cry if I'm emotionally invested in the characters. SOB it was really good ;-; A-also that song is amazing. I have never heard that version of it.

DEFINITELY.
