kiaxet: (Way With Words)
( May. 1st, 2012 02:02 pm)
I finally bit the bullet and got a new laptop and then returned it and got another new laptop because the first one wasn't working right, and now that I have Word on it, I want to get started writing again. So!

Give me a fandom/character(s) and a genre (comedy, drama, fluff, etc) and I will write a one-sentence drabble...or possibly something longer, if the mood strikes me.

It's late, I'm bushed, and I've spent the entire day completely uninspired, even for tags. Wanna help me out and get fic or music in the process? Here's how:

1. Comment on this entry with a character or pairing and a genre of fanfiction (fluff, humor, smut, angst, etc.) and I will write you a one-sentence fic for it.

2. Comment with the name of a character, pairing, etc., in one of my fandoms/fandom we share. I'll post you an "instant" mini-fanmix: a cover and 3-5 songs that remind me of that character/pairing/show/etc. I'll upload the songs and everything!

Specify which prompt you want, or if you want both. I am fine with multiple characters, multiple prompts, multiple genres in prompt 1, crossovers...I just need to get writing again. Hopefully this will transfer into other things and I can finish 1) bitty!Terra drabbles; 2) KH/Tron: Legacy; or 3) BBS/MLP fic. Or the KH/Discworld drabbles, though those aren't as outstanding as these three.

Why is my writing list so long aaaaaaaa

Still dying of ick. :/

Thank you for all the recommendations you left me yesterday - that's definitely going to keep me busy for quite a while. I haven't visited Escapist for quite a while, so that'll be interesting.

And now, because I was tagged in this meme both by [livejournal.com profile] princealia and [livejournal.com profile] yuukihikari, I figure I might as well do it.

Eventually real life updates will happen. Eventually. For now, two memes:

Specifying which one you're commenting for, even if it is for both of them, would be nice. |Db

I should probably talk about life, work, and all that stuff, but really, I'm fairly certain you're all tired of hearing about it. XD Honestly, I haven't started at Brighton yet, and all I'm doing for Hickory Farms is standing at a mall kiosk selling cheese and sausage. The jokes just make themselves. Instead, I'm posting a few different meme-ish things, because why not?

The first is not a meme, but the Christmas list! )

The second is that Year In Review meme that I love so much. )

The third is a song guessing meme~ Yay~ )

And with that, this entry has officially gone on far too long. I will finish this up with one last thing:

Please feed my Rayquaza. He doesn't want to be lonely anymore.
First of all, I writed a thing! I really need to stop doing that at one in the morning, but there you go. Also, BBS spoilers there. You've been warned.

Crazy things are happening with interviews being cancelled and changed around and whatnot, but I don't think I'm going to hear anything until Monday. Either way, glory hallelujah I have a three-day temp gig this week. :D Waking up at six is going to lay me flat, but it'll be worth it.

[livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada and I are going to head to the Soda Fountain next to El Capitan later this afternoon. We've never been before, so it should be interesting. And full of ice cream. Yes. :Db

Finally, I've been tagged in this name meme, so here it is: And it's longer than you'd think! )

In completely different news, curse my ongoing obsession with timepieces! Guess what's going on my Christmas list this year. ;A;
I wound up with another interview! I applied for jobs last night, or rather early this morning, given that it was around 1 a.m. or so, and I got a call this afternoon scheduling me for an interview Tuesday. I was so tired when they called and said they wanted to interview me, my first question was, "what for?"

...which is probably a terrible first impression, but you do what you can. @_@ It's for Tuesday afternoon. Here's hoping.

I finally got Oncoming Traffic up and running! It's hyphenated, since "oncomingtraffic" was taken by one of those annoying years-old-but-only-one-entry blogs. If anyone's interested, the first entry is here. I'll be updating as often as I can, especially since I'm a month behind.

I'm going to Disneyland again tomorrow. Kevin asked me if I wanted to meet him and his parents there, so I am. XD He's going to get my World of Color fastpass, and I'm going to go see Fantasmic for the first time in what seems like ages. I have missed that show so much, and I am so stoked. :D

I am determined to finally finish that KH meme, so here goes!

Cut for BBS spoilers; All 30 days )

I know you're out there, Yang Mew, and I am coming to find you.
Oh man I am so tired. Ugh. My sleep schedule is screwed sideways, what with falling asleep in pieces and waking up before my alarm despite going to bed late. My stomach did not like anything I ate today, and I know for a fact that I am coming down with a cold. In terms of health, tomorrow's gonna suck.

I had an incredibly visceral reaction to trying on a wig today. Evidently they skeeve me the everloving hell out and I just forgot. \O_o/

Job search has picked up some slow momentum, but is still mostly ineffectual. I don't know what I expect from my first day, but eh.

And tomorrow, if I don't feel like the living dead, I need to have that lovely I-Quit-DEX conversation with my mom.

...hello, flist, how're you doing? XD Life doesn't suck as much as I'm making it out to, promise. I just hate getting sick and that clouds my perception of eeeeeeverything. Tomorrow's errands will include picking up Zicam and cold remedies, because man alive I refuse to still be miserable by the time the San Diego game rolls around this weekend.

So yes. Herp derp Kia needs sleep.

I remember telling people that I wasn't going to stick around longer than my supervisor, who's also been looking for jobs. I told people things would go poorly if I did.

Turns out she got hired yesterday. When I turned in my letter of resignation this morning, so did she. Funny how these things work out sometimes.

The fun part of this (and by fun I mean FFFFFFFFF) is going to be telling my parents. That should be interesting. For now, however, I'm working through today and hitting up Disneyland with [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin tomorrow, with [livejournal.com profile] jedizero meeting us for lunch and the latter half of the Falcons game. (Go Falcons! Beat CSU!)

In other news, I might've enabled a Critic just by existing. Also, the meme continues.

Meme + All 30 Days )

I am camping the forums waiting for a re-bag opportunity. Just. Waiting.
Yeah, the writing-fic-until-after-midnight things really needs to stop. It's absolutely killing my brain, and I kind of need that to function. I have quite a bit of egg stuff to work on tonight, and now that the plot bunny is out on paper, I can hopefully get to it. Given that the one I have right now is slowly going rotten, I really need to step up the search for fresh ones.

Glee is tonight. I completely forgot about that until this morning. Some fan, huh. |D

I've pretty much decided I'm going to Disneyland on Saturday. I'll get World of Color fastpasses in the morning, spend the early afternoon in the ESPN zone watching the Falcons game, and do dinner and a show (possibly two shows, depending on whether I feel like catching Fantasmic...which is usually a yes) in the evening. I just really need the concentrated dose of happy this weekend.

And to allow yet another post to wander into the land of fandom:

LeSeptieme:
I really want to see Terra just punch him [Xehanort] in the face
Keyblade battles are all well and good, but I really want that to be the finishing move
just
FALCON PUNCH
or better yet
I AM A MAN
harpiesiren7:
XD
*goes to draw that*
LeSeptieme:
...I love you XD

Tell me that is not the best mental imagery ever.

Also, can someone please make a Keyblade icon with some of these quotes in it? They're towards the end and perfect; you'll know which ones I mean. XD

More 30 Day meme, all under a cut this time because of BBS spoilers and because I've missed a ton of days, so it's long:

This past week's answers and all 30 days )

I named the Rapidash "Always." /herp derp
kiaxet: (Yatta! (Flonne))
( Sep. 28th, 2010 10:39 am)
For those of who who didn't see it in my linking frenzy last night, I have finally finished my video and put it up:

It is absolutely spoilery as hell for BBS, so if you haven't finished the game and don't want to be spoiled, please don't watch it. Yet. Feel free to come back once you're finished. |Db

Also, my headcanon and world building for the Land of Departure randomly worked itself in twenty minutes or so last night, so expect a series of drabbles centered around world building and how Terra and Aqua became apprentices. Expect them to be cute, for it is pretty much impossible to write bitties without it being cute.

...as a bit of a warning, I have a spoilery icon I really want to use, so that'll probably show up in comments. So's you knows. |D

To make this yet another entirely KH-themed post, let's have another day of that meme:

8. Favorite World

Ooh, that's another tough one. Huh. Probably Mulan for KH2, because I love the turns the story took in there, I loved the enemies and bosses (even though the freaking centaur Heartless were awful at lower levels), and surprise!Riku is always a bonus. In BBS, it's got to be Cinderella's world, because of consolation!fail!Terra, tiny!Ven, and graceful!Aqua. And the carriage. And the fact that Fairy Godmother is possibly the best magical character in the game and I want her in my party. And "What are you doing in my house?!" Basically, this world was hilariously awesome in all three stories.

All 30 Days )

For those of you who missed the last entry, I have indeed finished my weekend-eating project. [livejournal.com profile] nalina fixed my audio problems, and the AMV will be up on YouTube sometime this evening. I will definitely be double posting when that happens. If feedback is positive, I may well enter it in convention AMV competitions, just to see how things go.

Now that that's over, I'm trying to get rid of the plot bunnies that have been hounding me. It just never ends, does it. XD

Thanks to my weekend off, I'm way the hell behind in RP. Can anybody tell me if I owe you tags...? I know Linkara's got two and Usopp's got two, but aside from that I can't remember any back tags I need to do. Kia's memory is terrible.

Also, SUPRAIZ!PIRATES is possibly the best development ever. I absolutely love you people. XDb

In a non-RP related note, I have these lovely blank sections on my profile that I need your help filling. You know that one-sentence meme that goes around every once in a while that I have never done and can never find when I need it? Yeah, I'm trying that one, so:

Describe me in a sentence. It can be as serious or silly as you want. In turn, I'll put all those sentences in a section on my profile.

My personal caveat is, please keep it clean. Pretty sure you guys will anyway, but nonetheless. ♥

Finally, that KH 30 Day meme, for which I am several days behind:

5. Favorite Mini Game

You know, I never really made a habit of playing a lot of minigames - I was always too busy going NEEDS MOAR PLOT 8O. That said, I did like mail delivery in Twilight Town, if only because it was quick, to the point, and not tough enough to get utterly frustrating.

Plus, performing a skateboard jump to deliver mail to a pidgeon in midair is never not funny.

6. Favorite Magic Spell

Cure. Oh man is it ever Cure. I feel like that's a bit of a given, but nonetheless. Aside from that bit of obvious, I really liked what I've been calling shotgun spells - they're the ones that shoot a concentrated blast that really flies. In KH1, it was Fire; in KH2, it's Blizzard.

7. Favorite Summon/D-Link

Once again, I pretty well fail the point of the game by not using a whole lot of summons. XD Press X to Kill Things, indeed. I was particularly fond of Genie in KH, though - he was certainly useful against Lock, Shock, and Barrel.

All 30 Days )

For those of you who've heard me yammer on about this on AIM and/or Twitter, I finally put up the half a video I have for Dare You to Move. I started it in 2006 and never really finished. I might eventually - for now, my brain has been taken over by the new AMV. As it is, here's the unfinished one:

It's actually an a capella cover of Switchfoot's song, which I actually like better than the original. YMMV, I guess.

Also, I'm having a problem with Movie Maker (yes, I make my AMVs in Windows Movie Maker, it's all I have, sh'up). The audio file is being read as six minutes long when it's only four and a half, and any time I click on a point in the middle of the song, it's out of sync - it's the wrong part of the song. To get things to sync up, I have to play everything from the beginning. I'm going to try reimporting the audio file; aside from that, has anyone run into this before and does anyone know how to fix it?

On a vaguely related note, I'm not surprised there are a lot of BBS AMVs out there already. What made me snicker madly was the plethora of BBS AMVs set to Linkin Park songs. I know I really shouldn't judge until I watch them; it's just the concept that amuses me.

Also, there's a random one set to Miss Murder. Uh. 'Kay then.

Just to make this entire entry about Kingdom Hearts and well-nigh pointless to anyone not in the fandom, I'm finishing it off with the 30 day meme, including the day I missed.

3. Favorite Keyblade Design

Testament /cough cough

Fenrir, because Fenrir is freaking hilarious. It's basically just a giant car key that you get for handing Sephiroth's rear to him. I've never gotten it myself, but the idea just tickles me pink.

As far as less lulz and more aesthetic appeal go, my favorite is the Kingdom Key. It's got a relatively simple design so far as Keyblades go, but it works very well as a symbol of the game. It's simplicity belying badassitude, and I love it.

If we're talking favorite Keyblade to employ in the trade of asskicking, I remember using Bond of Flame for a very long time. Love that one.

4. Favorite Song from the games

But there are so many ;^;

It's a toss-up between Hazardous Highway and Working Together. Forget explaining; just listen:

Yes.

( Sep. 22nd, 2010 01:39 pm)
A random note to the servers on my flist: when a party of seven college- and graduate-age girls sits in your section, orders drinks right off the bat, and tells you they're celebrating a birthday, that would be your cue to get on top of your game and stay there, because if you make their happy experienc3 even better with your good service, you are going to make bank.

Our waiter last night didn't get the memo. :| Buuuuut [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada had a good time and that is all that matters. :Db

There is a ridiculously fantastic Xehanort on dear_mun right now. They are creepy and terrifying and absolutely spot-on. Also, the mun referred to the finger waggle as "milking the giant cow." I freaking love this fandom.

On a tangentially related note, does anyone know how to make animated icons with text on them? I have a request if you do. |Db

I am absolutely bored as hell right now, so I'm stealing a meme from [livejournal.com profile] ggmoonycrisco:

Give me a character I play and I'll give you their:

01. Full name
02. Best friend
03. Sexuality
04. Favorite colour
05. Relationship status
06. Ideal mate
07. Turn-ons
08. Last sexual experience
09. Favorite food
10. Crushes
11. Favorite music
12. Biggest fear
13. Biggest fantasy
14. Quirks in bed
15. Bad habits
16. Biggest regret
17. Best kept secrets
18. Last thought
19. Worst sexual/romantic experience
20. Biggest insecurity

Muse list is on my profile. The only character I ask you not do this with is Linkara, because that gets a bit too close to the creeper line for me. 8D;;;

Finally, another one for that 30 Day KH meme I'm doing:

2. Least Favorite Character

Probably "Ansem"/Xehanort's Heartless. This is likely partially because my KH playing was in big sporadic chunks, meaning I didn't quite piece the plot together too well the first time around and therefore only had a vague idea of who he was supposed to be, and partially because I watched my brother beat him quite a few times (dirty little secret: never actually took him on myself). Honestly, I just could not care less about him. He's my least favorite just because I'm apathetic in his general direction.

I haven't posted for a solid week. Neglected blog is sadly, sadly neglected.

Of course, this could well be because I've been spending most of my time on LJ in my RP journals. In my defense, however, epic things have been happening. In this past week, Linkara has nearly been eaten by a vampire, Rosette is kicking vampire ass, and Foxx has fixed Caboose's computer after he tried to feed it a cookie (...don't ask), helped build and run a time machine, and punched Jack Spicer. It may not have been the greatest of weeks for all my characters, but I'm certainly enjoying myself.

Also, between watching Thriller Bark with [livejournal.com profile] edward_hyde and [livejournal.com profile] universejuice and my natural propensity towards doing stupid things in regards to RP, I think I'm going to app Usopp. For those of you who don't know, Usopp is part Badass Normal, part Butt Monkey, and can pretty much be summed up as Batman the Cowardly Pirate.

No, seriously.

Eleven years' worth of canon to cover before August 24th. Bring it on.

What is wrong with me ;~;

Incidentally, I am in need of some good OP icons. /stares at TB buddies expectantly

In other news, that egg is taking a long time to hatch. I've been advised to give it a few more days before I check the nest, though, so I'm trying to take it easy for now. The other egg, however, needs some poking.

My life what is this craziness. Seriously.

Anyways I'm gonna go ahead and finish up that music meme...a week late...8D

Day 29: A song from your childhood

There's this great CD (though it was a mixed tape way back then) that Avon and Disney put together called For Our Children. It's well-nigh impossible to find nowadays, but my brothers and I nearly wore it out back then. It also had Blanket For a Sail, Getting to Know You, Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips, and all sorts of other fantastic things. :D I can actually upload it at some point if anyone wants it. Either way, this is the song that my brothers and I would always ask to be played over and over and over again.

Day 30: Your favorite song at this time last year

Warning: this video is absolutely spoilery as hell for Princess Tutu. So's you knows.
[livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada can vouch: this one was at the top of my most played list on iTunes by well over a hundred views, and it stayed there for a very long time. There were days when I'd just throw it on repeat and let it go.

The Full 30 Days )

So yeah, that's thirty days of music. I might need to do another one of these 30 day memes, if ony to keep things going. Does anybody have any good ones?
Well, [livejournal.com profile] jedizero is officially moved into his new apartment and I am officially the Friend with the Big Car. I don't mind the title, but running into traffic caused by an accident on one freeway and traffic caused by a fire on the other isn't exactly a fantastic drive. Mulholland wound up being a shortcut, despite being a much longer road. Yay actually moving!

No word on the egg yet. I'm still hoping.

Thriller Bark isn't near as bad as I thought it'd be. Of course, now that I've said that, I'm sure there'll be something tonight that absolutely bites me in the ass. Still, though - not too bad as of yet.

I've also kind of promised [livejournal.com profile] edward_hyde that I'd do an AMV for it, so there better not be any mind-shattering trauma ahead. :|

OH. SPEAKING OF TRAUMA.

Fannish OP rant ahead on the subject of traumatic pasts and why trying to rank them is /dumb/ )

Also, this is the series that inspired the phrase, "Life sucks and then you die become a pirate," so. Yes

That said, I truly am enjoying it in spite of the nightmare fuel and soul killing angst. 8D

On a completely unrelated note, how about some music?

27: A song that you wish you could play

I can almost get it on Guitar Hero, but I'm fairly certain that doesn't count. Still. This song. ;^;

28: A song that makes you feel guilty
...I don't. I. What? Guilty? Honestly, I don't think this applies to anything I listen to.

So.

28: A song that makes you feel guilty screw the rules I have music is on your mind

Honestly, I still know all the choreography from Songfest because I am a dork. Also, I did promise an AMV to it, partially because of this:

Yes, those are dancing zombies. No, I don't know why. No, there is no reason for it, even in context. Yes, it's a Big Lipped Alligator Moment. Yes, even One Piece has those. No, I couldn't believe it either.

For those of you who prefer a different vein of geekdom:

And you wonder why I love Disney so much.

All Thirty Days )
So, in non-OMGTEHDRAMAAAAAAZ-related news, I'm watching through the Thriller Bark arc of One Piece with [livejournal.com profile] universejuice and [livejournal.com profile] edward_hyde.

...hang on, I thought I was going to write about something non dramatic and awful

Bazinga

Seriously, I didn't think my pirate-style zombies would come with that big of a side of skeeve. When one of the only two female characters gets licked by an invisible ghost thing in the third episode of the arc and there's supposedly a "bath scene" in the fifth episode, which we've loaded and not watched with the intention of watching it tonight sometime...SHOULD BE FUN 8D

Anyways, how about a long-neglected music meme?

Day 24: A song that you want to play at your funeral

Do I really need to explain this one?

Day 25: A song that makes you laugh

I just can't get over the chorus. It's a song about math, I'm an English major, and I love it anyway. XD

Day 26: A song that you can play on an instrument

...my only instrument is my voice alright 8D

For those of you who are wondering, I'm doing a lot better than I was yesterday. I've done everything I can for my egg; now all I need to do is wait.

That said, hanging out with Lynx and Reb tonight promises to be a good way to pass the time. :Db

In other news, this. Blame Pura - she enabled me IRL and I could not resist.

I will not play Beaker at [livejournal.com profile] xi_rpg I will not play Beaker at [livejournal.com profile] xi_rpg I will not play Beaker at [livejournal.com profile] xi_rpg I will not oh dammit

Other things to deal with: rent, lease signing, Wednesday's dinner plans, tags. I'm sure there's other stuff, but I can't remember it at the moment.

Also! Music. :D

Day 22: A song that you listen to when you’re sad

It used to make me cry, and now it makes me feel better. That's what music is supposed to do when you're down, I think.

All 30 Days )
You know, I hadn't realized I missed Cheyenne until I got there this weekend. That said, it's a much nicer place to visit than it is to live, though they have added a few more metropolitan areas (read: shopping centers) since I was last there seven years ago. Yeah, seven years will do something for your cowboy nostalgia.

It's also at 50,000 people, which does make it bigger than Ridgecrest. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada.

I obtained a cowboy hat (read: adventure hat whenever the black fedora is not appropriate), a new purse, and quite a few pictures of giant boot sculptures. I also got a concert t-shirt, which broke the bank. 8D

SPEAKING OF THE CONCERT OMW. I loved it. :D I do love Brooks and Dunn, and as always, they put on a fantastic show. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't spent half the concert in tears, but there you go.

...I need to explain that last comment, huh.

They played a song I'd never heard called Cowgirls Don't Cry, about a girl who is raised by her daddy to be a cowgirl, has her husband cheat on her but keeps it inside because cowgirls don't cry, and then her dad dies and his last words to her are - you guessed it - cowgirls don't cry.

So, of course, I'm bawling by the time that song is over. That was about an hour into the two-hour concert, and every time they played another slow song I'd start up again. That wouldn't have been so bad if every other song hadn't been a slow and/or meaningful song. I even cried at Neon Moon, for goodness' sake, and I knew it was coming. It got to the point where the stage lights would turn blue, I'd sit there and go OH DAMMIT NOT AGAIN, and sure enough...yeah. Fantastic concert but damn I cried.

Highlights of the concert were:

- Starting with Play Something Country
- The beer sellers all wearing fluorescent pink shirts
- The elderly woman behind me being just as much of a fangirl as I am
- Ending the concert proper with My Maria
- Pretending to take requests: "What do you wanna hear? ...My Maria? ...Later. Boot Scoot? ...Later." Earth Wind & Fire teases me, I go crazy. Brooks & Dunn tease me, I laugh.
- Two song encore: Brand New Man and Boot Scootin' Boogie
- Bringing out servicemen in uniform from all four branches of the Armed Forces for a salute during Only In America. This is the only time I've seen any performance get a screaming standing ovation in the middle of the concert - hell, in the middle of a song. This was incredible and far and away my favorite part.

All in all, it was an incredible concert and a great weekend. I love hanging out with my family and I don't get to do it often anymore.

In more local news, I'm still working on that egg and hoping. This week promises to be another busy one with friend-visiting and lease-signing. The new One Piece movie is friggin' hilarious and I want to watch it again because I am obviously now hooked on Oda's trollish crack. Send help.

If I get my rear in gear tonight, there'll be another post with pictures and video from the past two weekends and snippets of chat log from [livejournal.com profile] universejuice and I watching the movie. For now, I continue on with music.

I'm going to start cutting these whenever I do them in chunks...which is all I ever seem to do ;;; )
Ganked from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] scissorbite:

1. Go to Google and type, "You know you're from (your city or state) when...."
2. Cut and paste the list.
3. Bold the items that apply to you.

You know you're from Colorado Springs when... )

There's no "You know you're from Malibu" list, and the "You know you go to Pepperdine" list is all about drugs and drinking and things I didn't actually do at Pepperdine. Feels a bit backwards to me.

That said, this list is spot on. |D
