The name of the game is the same as the game here - I have a fic idea that's just been eating me. I, of course, blame The Eleventh Hour, the newest episode of Doctor Who. I watched that with my roomie, did my mindless getting ready for bed routine, let my mind wander, and poof, fic idea that's just kept developing itself every time I give it the idle brain space in which to do so.

And what is this brain-eating fic, you ask? A Doctor Who/Elite Beat Agents crossover.

As far as I'm concerned, they both have aliens and music and that is good enough for me.

I actually have almost everything pretty much figured out (as [livejournal.com profile] universejuice well knows, given that I've just about talked her ear off about it) - it's equal parts DW and EBA and all sorts of fun. I am, however, having a few character issues, which is where I'm hoping my lovely flisters can help me out.

Cut for character issues )

I just. I don't even know, guys. I need a few dedicated betas and I need some good advice before I start this thing. I might also need some encouragement in general to start it at all.

Also, would anybody be interested in seeing a radom-ish scene I have planned for it? Because I've been toying with this one since it struck me.

Not gonna lie: I love me my Disneyland. It was Kevin's birthday today, so a group of us got together and headed out to the Land of the Mouse at his behest. Roomie and I only stayed for half a day since we both had homework to do (which...still isn't entirely done, ahaha). We had lunch at the Blue Bayou, where the short ribs are still to die for and the cookie boat that Cheryle and Caroline so loved has disappeared ;~; Evidently corporate decided it was not classy enough for the place. This, of course, was after I'd spent a good ten minutes talking it up to my friends and we were determined to order it. Doesn't it always happen that way.

Strangely enough, I traded my KH pin to someone. Even after explaining that it wasn't technically a trading pin and that it wasn't super rare (and after explaining just what Kingdom Hearts was), I traded it to him for Fritz and the promise that he'd check out the game at some point. I now have all four Tiki Room parrots and a potential new member of the fandom. That was a productive ten or so minutes. |Db

Captain EO is back at Disneyland, and [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin wasn't kidding when she said it was COMPLETELY EIGHTIES. It is, and shamelessly so. I mean, jeez, the fashion, the dance moves, the terrible 3D, the animatronics, the fact that Michael Jackson was still black at the time...totally eighties. Plotwise: EBA in space, complete with music lasers. I freaking kid you not. Once I figured that out, I was pretty much cracking up through the entire remainder of the show. MUSICAL LASERS CREATED BY THE POWER OF SONG AND DANCE TO DEFEAT ALIENS WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND MUSIC where are the Rolling Stones when you need them?

...it was a gas, gas, gas. |D

Speaking of Disney and music and homework! I need a way to download YouTube videos to my computer. KeepVid and SaveTube aren't working for me, and I need a few videos for a digital storytelling project I'm doing. Can anyone suggest an alternate method, and if not, can anyone download them for me and send me the files? I need to get this resolved relatively soon, so. Yes. Thanks in advance. :3

This is not one of the videos I need, but it intrigues me nonetheless.

I had no idea there was a remix to Locking Up the Sun. Will wonders never cease.

[/keeps a running tally of the number of comments that start with, "Take a nap. THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES!"]

It's been a long couple of days. Songfest started Thursday night, and we've had three practices since then - one a day every day for two hours. They get to be more exhausting than I expected - during the last ten minutes of today's, I resorted to imagining beat markers to keep myself going on the right choreography. Let's be honest here: EBA gets me through a heck of a lot more than I'll admit. Mission Complete, at the least.

So that's a ton of fun and a total life-eater. If anyone on campus wants tickets, get 'em fast - the finale's already just about sold out.

Also, saw Zombieland for the first time on Thursday with Tara, Kevin, and Megan. I spent the first twenty minutes in a state of Not Sure If Want. That was when they introduced Tallahassee. I decided it was want. To keep my thoughts as non-spoilery as possible, I did love the rules and how they kept popping up (especially Rule #2) and the Zombie Kill of the Week made me laugh my ass off. Overall, I really did appreciate that they focused more on the character relations than they did OMG KILL TEH ZOMBIES; however, when OMG KILL TEH ZOMBIES did come up, it was incredibly well done. All in all, it was quite a good movie.

Tonight was dinner with my roomie and my boyfriend's family (minus two of his brothers). I can totally see where he gets it from. |D Not the first time I've met his parents and his littlest brother, but nonetheless. Plus, we were at the Santa Monica pier, and roomie and I walked away from the encounter with a fedora apiece. Hers is white with a black ribbon; mine is black and shall have a white ribbon on it soon. I have somehow managed to acquire a Morris hat. |Db

Now that I'm all sorts of bushed and have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow, I suppose I should trundle off to bed now.

I do, actually. I'm not 100% yet, but I'm on the way up. I remember this being a two-day thing, so I'm pretty much marking time until tomorrow and hoping for the best (and drinking lots of water, all that jazz).

But more importantly: WE MADE COOKIES TODAY

The Derek cookie got a lot of compliments, even if nobody knew what it was. Yes, that is J on the end. I tried to make the pompadour and it looked...really bad. Really bad. So he's having an off day. |Db I wound up describing them as "inside jokes" whenever anybody asked what they were. I guess that makes you all inside. XDb

Also! I can has rename token, thanks to a lovely gifter from the [livejournal.com profile] holiday_wishes comm. If this journal randomly turns into [livejournal.com profile] kiaxet, you'll all know why. There will also probably be a big post announcing it. |Db

Lesson of the night: a martini that involves creme liquer and vodka will eventually curdle. Drink it before it becomes alcoholic yogurt.

Not quite sure why I'm still drinking the thing. I might need a spoon soon.

I had some epic and rather embarrassing adventures in cooking today. My task was to make cherry bars (which went off without a hitch) and peppermint fudge. For those of you who have had it, peppermint fudge is melted white chocolate and pounded candy canes mixed together, spread out, allowed to set, and then broken into pieces. It is basically the easiest dessert ever. We usually melt the chocolate in the microwave - heat in small increments and stir in between so it doesn't burn.

I don't know why, but for some reason today I just could not melt chocolate. I don't know if it was because the microwave is having issues (Mom called the repairman and he's coming tomorrow) or if it was because we used Ghiradelli chocolate chips instead of Toll House, but I could not make it work. The first batch somehow wound up with the consistency and smell of cheese - I have no idea how that happened - and the second batch had the consistency of Play-Doh.

I had a lot of fun with the second batch. |D

Peppermint fudge never happened for tonight's party, but Oreo truffles and cherry bars did, and they were both well worth it. :3

Also - and this is completely different - I'm not really having problems with my brother's girlfriend anymore. Something's changed in the few weeks I was back at Pepperdine, namely the fact that she doesn't make me want to break walls with my face anymore. I'm going to try to reserve judgment until I see more of her, which I inevitably will. We'll see how this goes.

And now, it's time to catch up on memes. Huzzah~

Comment and I'll give you three fandoms, for which you must answer these:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] deltashade gave me Doctor Who, Disgaea, and Chrno Crusade, while [livejournal.com profile] universejuice gave me Discworld, Elite Beat Agents, and Sonic.

I'm sure you're all so interested in hearing this. )

I also ran across one of these in [livejournal.com profile] sandsdream's journal, and since I love this type of meme I had to go for it. |Db

Crack Pairings Romance Meme:

Pick 10 characters from as many fandoms as you wish and assign them each a number. Then answer 16 questions. Let the lulz begin.

1. Rosette (Chrno Crusade)
2. Agent J (Elite Beat Agents)
3. Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
4. Luxord (Kingdom Hearts II)
5. Silver the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
6. DEATH (Discworld)
7. Flonne (Disgaea)
8. Agent Foxx (Elite Beat Agents)
9. The Doctor (Doctor Who)
10. The Genie (Aladdin)

If all else fails, this should be interesting. )

Well, that was indeed interesting. |Db

Also, my paid account dies in four days. Once it does, would somebody be willing to send me one of those magical certificates so's I can renew it please? :3
Let me preface this with, I love my Stage Dance class. The people in there are great and fun and Bill is a great instructor and I am looking fun to our showcase on Tuesday.

That said, some of them make me want to wallbang like you would not believe. The phrase, I think, is "technologically inept."

I've been taking video of us practicing our dances so we can watch it at home and practice between classes, because we're doing six dances and that's a lot of choreo to retain. I have all the videos, and a week ago I zipped them into two .rar folders, uploaded them to SendSpace, and sent the link to everyone in my class with detailed instructions on how to download the files from SendSpace and unzip them. I also said to email me back if anyone had any questions.

You know who emailed me? Bill. He said everything worked perfectly and thanks for doing that! Thinking my job well done, I headed to class today.

Where over half the class told me they couldn't make things work. The files wouldn't download! They took forever downloading! (Well, yeah, it's over 150 MB of video in each one, I'd imagine that'd take a while.) They wouldn't unzip! They wouldn't play!

Guys. Our performance is on Tuesday. You have my email address! Hell, you have the email I sent you! Why on God's green Earth did you not email me back and tell me you had problems? We could have worked this out!

I've spent the past hour and some change uploading every video individually onto SendSpace, then sent out the links again with very detailed instructions on how to work things, along with very explicit instructions to email me back, whether they work or not. I want feedback, dammit. The only reason these aren't on YouTube is because Bill doesn't want his choreography on a public domain, which I can understand.

Then again, this respect for Bill may stem from the fact that he emailed me back.

Well, at least now I know where my Foxx muse came from.
Tonight was going to be paper night! Then again, last night was going to be paper night too, and I wound up epically distracted. As much fun as that was (and it was so much fun), I think I might be in trouble so far as papering goes, since twelve hours of work tomorrow will not lend itself well to an all-nighter and I am just out of it tonight. Concentration is not exactly happening.

Who knows? Maybe paper night will still happen. Stranger things have gone down on this campus.

I refuse to stick my head out the window and call for healp, though. It's forty-five degrees out there and my room is cold enough as it is.

Halfway through those previous sentences, iTunes pulled up JJF. I'm telling you, it's freaking psychic. It just. Is. Jeebus.

...I was going to go on about my weekend and the past couple days and generally be a timewasting dork, but I just got the motivation to work on my paper. I will never doubt the dancing men in suits again.

Choir concert was a success! I am pleased. :3 Hopefully we can pick up a recording for it sometime next semester, because I'd love to have one.

I was very pleased with myself today! Monologue coaching went well, concert went well, no other classes aside from that, and the Christmas tree lighting was beautimous. Very very good day. Tomorrow is an interview with Sodahead.com, which is for an internets internship, which would be awesome. There is also a G Phi Christmas party, huzzah. Good times. :Db

And today's Woot shirt is awesome. Do want.

Oh hey um. Those who have read my EBA fic, I'm debating linking it on [livejournal.com profile] agentsarego. Y/N/M/WTF?

I suppose tonight's goal is to finish the post-structuralist paper and get sleep enough to be coherent tomorrow. Good times, good times.

I leave you with a bucketload of memes, because memes are fun:

Kind of an eclectic mix there, huh. A lot of these are shows I watched with my family - we have a habit of discussing thing while they're airing. Yay family time. |Db

OH YEAH, ROCKAPELLA CONCERT ON SUNDAY! SOOOOOO STOKED *A*
I take these surveys for a company called NPDOR, and at the end they let you enter sweepstakes to win prizes. A few days ago, I won the "$250 gift to charity" prize. I thought they'd let me choose what charity I wanted, but evidently there's a set choice list. Seeing as neither Campfire USA nor Camp Laurel are on the list, I thought I'd leave it up to you all.

[Poll #1494088]

I figure I'll leave the poll open for a few days and then reply to the prize company with the charity with the highest votes. Good times. |Db

Also, there is new fic at [livejournal.com profile] en_ecrivant. Someone was derp enough to write an EBA/Glee crossover. Yeah. |Db

I'm not too sure how I feel about this one, tbh. My random fic never makes it to my writing journal when I'm multitasking, I've discovered. XD This is basically my take on the end of Day One of [livejournal.com profile] daisychainrpg's endgame on the Ultimatum, where we have five EBA and three injuries already, as well as an Atlantean crystal being passed around. Good times. |D

~~*~~

Supposedly, a good day was a day when you learned something new. )

~~*~~

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SHORT FIC FFFFFF

I have this bit of headcanon about J where he feels like he needs to 1) take charge and 2) live up to Chieftain's example whenever Chieftain isn't around. At the moment, Chieftain's on another ship somewhere and push has really come to shove and watching two Agents go down in less than a minute was a hard blow to the part of J that makes him feel like he needs to step up. Poor guy needs a break.

I'm just gonna leave this here. |D
Now that I've had a taste of all my classes, I think I can make an assessment of how the semester's going to go, at least academically: great. :D

Intro to Acting: I love this class so far. The prof is awesome, it's small and full of people I know, and it's acting. Everyone's got a sense of humor, too, which really helps. Now if only my books would come in.

Lit Theory: This is going to be the monster class. Upsides are, it's taught by Dr. Goodman (who was my rhetoric prof last year), it has a ton of people I know and like in it, and I get to do Life of Pi. Yay Life of Pi. :3

Choir: Evidently our choir director's retiring after this year, which makes this year pretty special. I hadn't realized just how much I missed singing and sheet music and this entire class until I walked back in for the first time since freshman year. Choir is awesome. *A*

Stage Dance: I just did this class this morning and wow. I hadn't realized how much I missed dance either, or yoga (because we start off with an hour or so of yoga. Heck yeah). Also, we went around at the beginning and talked about what "dance" made us think of, and I admitted to being a geek and told the class about EBA. Bill (the prof) wants me to bring it in on Friday to show people. Geekery, it seems, is contagious. |D

Overall, I don't think the academic (paper-writing) load will be too ridiculous - Lit Theory is my only paper-heavy class, and Stage Dance and Acting only require short papers sporadically throughout the semester. Dance, Acting, and Choir all require a lot of extracurricular events (seeing plays, seeing musicals, multiple performances, etc) so I might be doing some very interesting schedule juggling, especially on top of sorority stuff (which is already taking over my weekends) and Dance In Flight, which I plan on doing this year (and whose auditions take place during sorority recruitment training. Um).

So basically I plan on being busy in entirely different ways this semester. Should be interesting.

Homework tiems now.
Sentence format because I'm too tired for much more coherent thought or accurate spelling.

I love my freshmen seminar. They are all awesome freshmen and I was gobsmacked when they all asked questions about homework and such and didn't ask about social things or Greek life until my partner and I prompted them. Such awesome guys.

Someone ran over the spikes in the parking lot today. Ouch.

I averted a minor crisis today (flight plans for a parent aaaaaa) and was called a miracle worker for being able to wheedle info out of US Airways over the phone. The parent in question tried to pay me (which kind of defeats the point of volunteering and made me go D: no I'm just doing what I'm here for, really!) and then tried to get my last name so she could send me something in the mail. She got my name from my partner, so I wonder if that'll go anywhere. ^^;

Glitter eyeshadow should be used in overabundance or in very small amounts, if at all. Tonight was rock star night. The former was paired with a leopard print dress, black heeled boots, and a black tie. Somehow, I had this all in my closet. Yeayuh. XD

I had two freshmen today ask me how they could sign up for next year's NSO because they wanted to help the way the orange shirts were helping, and I d'awwwed a bit and explained it. They then freaked out a bit about training and asked if there was some special thing they'd need to do to get to know the school since we seemed to know everything, and I kind of lulzed a bit and assured them they'd be speaking acronym (I picked up my DAR at OneStop in the TAC today, and then I went to the HAWC) by the end of the week if not sooner.

There are no emergencies during NSO. I think if anyone were ever to get to the point to call for HEEEAAALP!, the orange shirts would have a faster response time than the black suits. We've got this, guys. Take a breather.

Off to bed now, because my coherency just died. Love y'all~
