Now that everyone wants to kill me for that title... 8D

Just a quick reminder that the first round of auctions in [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth ends in 80 minutes! That's 4 PM PST. I have two auctions up: Disneyland In a Box Or Envelope and Fan Soundtracks. Bid now if you want either of them!

Or, you know, bid on other stuff. That's good too. |Db All donations go towards relief efforts for the states affected by those massive tornadoes a few weeks ago.

/sets timer to 3:55, fixes to snipe some auctions
THIS THREAD. THIS THREAD THIS THREAD THIS THREAD. I have not had Jaffa Cakes or Ben's Cookies in years and I have a craving something awful. Do any of my UK friends want to hook me up? I'll pay for cookies and shipping and everything and I'll send you something from California or LA or Disneyland or whatever, just...Ben's Cookies ;A;

That bit of withdrawal was about three years overdue, I think. |D In the meantime, I'm stalking that thread and sniping it sometime on the 24th.

As a reminder, my threads for [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth are here and here. Y'all know what to do. :Db

In other news, Art of the Dress is getting rewritten. After everything we've done at work? Yeah, it's happening. I might even sing it if I get fed up enough. One line that's not changing, however: "Deadline looms/Don't you know the client's always right?"

Speaking of fandom and derpery, I'm debating finding a land comm or a 20in20 challenge to join. I know about the Sailor Moon and Avatar ones, but I'm not really in either of those fandoms. Is there a KH one kicking around somewhere, or a general 20in20? I have exactly zero idea, so. \O_o/

Eventually I will finish one of my writing projects. Eventually.

I'm actually dead serious about the cookie thing, guys. Do want.
That title is yet another favorite from the drop-down menu of past titles because I am yet again lost for titles because I have YET AGAIN failed to post in this journal for...two weeks, I think.

Hi guys. :Db

A flipton of stuff has happened in that time, so I'll probably be brief and have short paragraphs and bullet points, because why not.

For starters, I'm going to WonderCon on April 1st up in San Francisco, so if you're up there, I'd be more than happy to meet you there and have awesome times. :Db

I'm officially being hired full-time to my job on March 28th. I've got Things To Do Before Then, but that list is getting smaller and I'm actually really excited for this. Good times? I think so.

Work got me a bonus. I am now the proud owner of a Barbados Brighton handbag - or at least, I will be once my order comes in. I absolutely love this bag and I am stoked and a half to finally own one.

Gallifrey was two weekends ago! I love Gally so bloody much. It was amazing. My little came all weekend and [livejournal.com profile] uk_not_ok joined us for Saturday and Sunday. I broke a record for ribbons, got ogled multiple times (hello, midriff top at convention), dressed as a pirate and dealt poker for the Friday night Rum Party - which ended in a Who Can Stick What Down Kia's Bust contest, which was interesting - and then proceeded to use my winnings to buy Captain Jack Harkness. Yes, that's correct. I also met a Spish! Spish was awesome! :Db Saturday was wandering, a hilarious masquerade, running out in pouring rain to get dinner at Denny's, watching Tony Lee in top form at several panels, fantastic stories in the Fans Behaving Badly panel, dancing by the TARDIS - now a Gallifrey tradition, and a whole lot of IC I Never. Best conversation of the night had to be between Dean Winchester and DEATH. Way too much fun there. Sunday was an attempt to stay coherent after Saturday night's shenanigans, including the charity auction, in which I got a Mirrormask poster for [livejournal.com profile] ghettopeach and filled in as a temporary Vanna White (at which point one of the people in the audience tried to bid on me...okay then). I made a few new Twitter friends, said goodbye and see you next year and why don't we hang out more often to quite a few people. My goal this year was not to have any pocket watch incidents and not to be a complete rabid fangirl - oh, and to have fun - and I think I succeeded admirably in all aspects.

All Gally pictures and videos are here - let me know if you have any questions or want any explanations. My personal favorite is the one in which Tony Lee has AIDS. Cute, fluffy AIDS.

I have a list of about four people to call tomorrow and assorted other things to do, but aside from that life's mostly been quiet. I particularly like that.

In fandom news, I have a list of in-progress projects for which I rather want to kick my brain. I have this terrible problem with starting things and petering out, so we'll see how things go. The list, for my sanity and your curiosity, is as follows:

Yes, these are all KH fics. Go, self. )

And, as promised, the first chapter of the MLP/BBS crossover. Because I'm a gigantic derp. Right. Whyisthissocuteeeeeeeee~

Okay, we're ponies. How is that better? )

Basically, Kia is a giant derp who does nerdy, nerdy things. Business as usual. Love you all. ♥
For those of you who missed the last entry, I have indeed finished my weekend-eating project. [livejournal.com profile] nalina fixed my audio problems, and the AMV will be up on YouTube sometime this evening. I will definitely be double posting when that happens. If feedback is positive, I may well enter it in convention AMV competitions, just to see how things go.

Now that that's over, I'm trying to get rid of the plot bunnies that have been hounding me. It just never ends, does it. XD

Thanks to my weekend off, I'm way the hell behind in RP. Can anybody tell me if I owe you tags...? I know Linkara's got two and Usopp's got two, but aside from that I can't remember any back tags I need to do. Kia's memory is terrible.

Also, SUPRAIZ!PIRATES is possibly the best development ever. I absolutely love you people. XDb

In a non-RP related note, I have these lovely blank sections on my profile that I need your help filling. You know that one-sentence meme that goes around every once in a while that I have never done and can never find when I need it? Yeah, I'm trying that one, so:

Describe me in a sentence. It can be as serious or silly as you want. In turn, I'll put all those sentences in a section on my profile.

My personal caveat is, please keep it clean. Pretty sure you guys will anyway, but nonetheless. ♥

Finally, that KH 30 Day meme, for which I am several days behind:

5. Favorite Mini Game

You know, I never really made a habit of playing a lot of minigames - I was always too busy going NEEDS MOAR PLOT 8O. That said, I did like mail delivery in Twilight Town, if only because it was quick, to the point, and not tough enough to get utterly frustrating.

Plus, performing a skateboard jump to deliver mail to a pidgeon in midair is never not funny.

6. Favorite Magic Spell

Cure. Oh man is it ever Cure. I feel like that's a bit of a given, but nonetheless. Aside from that bit of obvious, I really liked what I've been calling shotgun spells - they're the ones that shoot a concentrated blast that really flies. In KH1, it was Fire; in KH2, it's Blizzard.

7. Favorite Summon/D-Link

Once again, I pretty well fail the point of the game by not using a whole lot of summons. XD Press X to Kill Things, indeed. I was particularly fond of Genie in KH, though - he was certainly useful against Lock, Shock, and Barrel.

All 30 Days )

Lesson of the night: a martini that involves creme liquer and vodka will eventually curdle. Drink it before it becomes alcoholic yogurt.

Not quite sure why I'm still drinking the thing. I might need a spoon soon.

I had some epic and rather embarrassing adventures in cooking today. My task was to make cherry bars (which went off without a hitch) and peppermint fudge. For those of you who have had it, peppermint fudge is melted white chocolate and pounded candy canes mixed together, spread out, allowed to set, and then broken into pieces. It is basically the easiest dessert ever. We usually melt the chocolate in the microwave - heat in small increments and stir in between so it doesn't burn.

I don't know why, but for some reason today I just could not melt chocolate. I don't know if it was because the microwave is having issues (Mom called the repairman and he's coming tomorrow) or if it was because we used Ghiradelli chocolate chips instead of Toll House, but I could not make it work. The first batch somehow wound up with the consistency and smell of cheese - I have no idea how that happened - and the second batch had the consistency of Play-Doh.

I had a lot of fun with the second batch. |D

Peppermint fudge never happened for tonight's party, but Oreo truffles and cherry bars did, and they were both well worth it. :3

Also - and this is completely different - I'm not really having problems with my brother's girlfriend anymore. Something's changed in the few weeks I was back at Pepperdine, namely the fact that she doesn't make me want to break walls with my face anymore. I'm going to try to reserve judgment until I see more of her, which I inevitably will. We'll see how this goes.

And now, it's time to catch up on memes. Huzzah~

Comment and I'll give you three fandoms, for which you must answer these:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] deltashade gave me Doctor Who, Disgaea, and Chrno Crusade, while [livejournal.com profile] universejuice gave me Discworld, Elite Beat Agents, and Sonic.

I'm sure you're all so interested in hearing this. )

I also ran across one of these in [livejournal.com profile] sandsdream's journal, and since I love this type of meme I had to go for it. |Db

Crack Pairings Romance Meme:

Pick 10 characters from as many fandoms as you wish and assign them each a number. Then answer 16 questions. Let the lulz begin.

1. Rosette (Chrno Crusade)
2. Agent J (Elite Beat Agents)
3. Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
4. Luxord (Kingdom Hearts II)
5. Silver the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
6. DEATH (Discworld)
7. Flonne (Disgaea)
8. Agent Foxx (Elite Beat Agents)
9. The Doctor (Doctor Who)
10. The Genie (Aladdin)

If all else fails, this should be interesting. )

Well, that was indeed interesting. |Db

Also, my paid account dies in four days. Once it does, would somebody be willing to send me one of those magical certificates so's I can renew it please? :3

( Apr. 19th, 2009 01:50 am)
This week has just been all sorts of insane. Expect length and rambling here.

Tiny finally came in, so I returned the Behemoth to Tech Central. Tiny is aptly named: the screen can't be bigger than eight or nine inches tops. The apostrophe key is next to the spacebar. Typing is near impossible. Thank goodness for USB keyboards. :D

I got my own laptop back from Tech Central today, with no repairs. It's a problem with the screen, and there's nothing they can do. At least I can still update my iPod...which is of course what matters. XD

I have fallen behind on practically everything in my life and will likely be using tomorrow to frantically catch up. I'm also fairly certain I owe people money, but I cannot remember who. Good times. XD

I went to California Adventure with [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin on Thursday. She was right: the animation building is fantastic. We spent probably two hours in there alone; most of it was me going o_o at all the fantastic stills from movies hung all over. We then went to go see the Aladdin show, which was fantastic. The Genie stole the show, of course - modern references made it. From telling Aladdin that he could have eight kids at once and the taxpayers of Agrabah would cover it to claiming he needed a government bailout since he lost his stuff in the Cave of Wonders collapse to asking Jafar if his hat was the same hat Aretha wore to the Inauguration (and later informing him that he was so mean that "on MySpace, Tom won't even friend you!") to Twittering ("Song is over. Carpet is tired."), Genie definitely made the show. I have to admit I laughed hardest when he broke into "Get'cha Head In the Game," but then again I'm biased. |D Basically, the day can be summed up by this. Yes, that's me in the yellow. Yes, that's on the Tower of Terror, right before a thirteen-story drop. Yes, I loved every minute of it.

And then, as if this week's lulz weren't enough, we went out to see the Dragonball movie.

Cut for spoilers, rambling, and general hilarity. I love my friends. )
I believe it was [livejournal.com profile] tsusilver who said finding good Silvaze was "like finding diamonds in cornflakes."

After two hours of Pit diving, I'd call that an accurate assessment.

...I did, however, find a rewriting of Twilight with Sonic characters, in which Bella was Blaze and Edward was played by an OC named - I kid you not - "Twilight."

There are things not even I can make up.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

That was verrah important. :D

I know a lot of people do Year in Review posts, but to be honest I'm having trouble thinking back past this semester. It seems like I measure my time in weeks or days, which is why long-term planning and memoirs just throw me for a loop. I can try, though. Lessee:

Hit a year in Paixao (and a year in LJ RP overall).
Cloverfield came out and DC started up - it's almost a year old. I can't believe it.
Went to Gallifrey for the first time. Had a blast. Good times indeed.
I remember living in Towers and being told I couldn't put my bed under the window because of high school cheerleaders.
Rel 201 was awesome (and I need to email DeLong - don't let me forget). English 200 was tough if only because it was at eight in the morning. In all honesty, I don't remember what other classes I had and I'm too lazy to look them up. OH WAIT - Creative Writing, Grammar and Style, and Writing Center training. I am so the English major. So far as classes went, it was a pretty good semester.
Brawl came out the last day of Spring Break, and I wound up getting Jeff a copy so he wouldn't have to wait. I don't think he's ever called me so much, and I think I took a long time unpacking just to drive him crazy.
I learned how to use a microfilm machine.
I had a good deal of drama with my sorority, if only because I failed at participation and it came back to bite me in the ass. I've learned my lesson and I'm not doing it again.
THE RACISM DEBACLE.
I passed finals. Somehow.
Came home. Got a job at On the Border.
Summer of epic movies: Iron Man, Indiana Jones, The Dark Knight, Speed Racer, and of course Wall-E.
Weekly Doctor Who sessions with Spish and Jen all summer.
The Arizona branch of the family came to visit. Interesting at times but slightly arghghgh.
Broke $100 in tips - twice.
Went back to school for NSO.
Loved NSO. Fully intend to do again this fall.
Moved into apartments, reunited with roomie, met apartmentmates. Stocking an apartment is quite interesting.
Got massively into Sonic.
Swung into classes.
Got back into Sorority. Sisterhood chair is a blast.
Classes swung back. Got pwned.
Started drinking a lot of tea. Discovered that milk spoils incredibly quickly in Malibu. Not quite sure why.
Home for the Air Force/Navy game. Screamed my lungs out at the worst refs I've ever seen. Being in Mountain West sucks sometimes, as we get what we pay for.
Attempted to field and implement RP plot. Somehow survived.
Got into knock-down-drag-out with classes.
Asked out guy I'd been eyeing since London. Rejected. Guy later hooked up with RA. Found out through Facebook. Good amount of GRR ARGH to be had.
Introduced to Doctor Horrible.
Home for Thanksgiving.
Back for Finals. Called truce with classes. Earned a 3.6 GPA. Still need to send out my rhetoric paper to people who asked for it. Remind me to badger Goodman for feedback before I do so.
Home for Christmas.
Got back on the work schedule.
Unreal opened. Joined it. Convinced one and only character that TV was radioactive. Still amused.
Hung out with friends. Plan to do more of that before I head back.
Christmas.
Plotted in DC. Began partial overhaul of Paixao.
Spent New Year's Eve at a friend's house, watching Buffy and drinking fake champagne. Buffy gave way to conversation, which was much more interesting.
Came home. Hi, LJ.

...hell of a year, huh.

Happy New Year, guys. Happy 2009. May it be a safe and blessed one for you all.
This does not, however, excuse you all from my fandom-related blather. This entire fiasco started with a conversation about Sonic games and why hedgehogs (and only hedgehogs) could tap into the power of the Chaos Emeralds.

I made a crack about how they were all related. Going off my penchant for crossing fandoms, I then made a crack about how they were all Petrellis.

And suddenly it all made sense (this cut is for Heroes spoilers up to last week's episode, by the way) )

The parallels fall off a bit after that, but that was enough to keep both me and my roomie in stitches for a good fifteen minutes.

...I felt the need to share that with you all. :D Somebody please stop me from apping Silver Petrelli at [livejournal.com profile] thedressingzone
The best parts of filming interviews at the Twilight release party tonight:

The Edward cosplayer admitting he may well sparkle in daylight
The grown woman calling Edward "ideal boyfriend material" and saying she would want her daughter to date him
The girl who likes vampires better than werewolves because they're "hotter and sparklier"
The girl who, on a vampiric scale of 1 to 10 (10 being Dracula), rated Edward a 2

We've got more, but this video is going to be epic.
Okay. First. Idol results.

Cut for spoilers, should anybody care, and sparkletext. Lots and lots of sparkletext. )

And today's work shift.

Cut for waitressy- Jeez, aren't y'all used to this by now? XD )

Did I mention I love this job?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say David's going to win.

LJoke over, time for the actual post, mostly in letter format )

The long and short of all this is, I am such a dork for Idol and I'm really rooting for Cook. Show of hands: who's buying albums when they come out, and whose will you buy (if at all)? And is anybody else buying all the songs off iTunes before they go offline tomorrow? XD

AND FINALLY (AND TOTALLY OT):

I'm working lunch tomorrow, dinner Thursday, both shifts Friday, and lunch Saturday, in case somebody wants to come bother me. :D

I just about one cumulative episode of the Slideshow Violinist of Hameln. The clip included the ending.

Yeah, my brain went splat, although [livejournal.com profile] ggmoonycrisco and I had a rather interesting AIMathon while we watched it. This shall be posted at a later date, as I am tired.

So I'll do a meme instead, ganked from most everybody I know: 10 OTPs in 10 words or less. I don't know if I even have ten. XD

1. She's a vegetarian, which works well with his name.
Carrot and Angua - Discworld

2. He'll deny it; she'll tell it to the world. ♥
Laharl and Flonne - Disgaea

3. This would work a lot better if he'd quit fainting.
Raiel and Sizer - Violinist of Hameln

4. Technically, it's not canon...yet. Give it another game time.
Sora and Kairi - Kingdom Hearts

5. He only loves her for her wrench.
Ed and Winry - FullMetal Alchemist

6. Together despite the evil clown.
Hamel and Flute - Violinist of Hameln

7. She wears the pants, boots, and gun; he, Hawaiian shirts.
Zoe and Wash - Firefly

8. Timely and slightly chavtastic.
The Doctor and Rose - Doctor Who

9. I ship really big guns. The cross is a bonus.
Millie and Wolfwood - Trigun

10. I shouldn't have to say anything. This should be obvious. XD
Rosette and Chrno - Chrno Crusade

It should not have taken me the better part of 30 minutes to come up with all of these. XD;;;

ETA: Changed the clue to 7 after I realized it was ridiculously vague.

So. Yes. I AM ALIVE.

And I don't feel like doing a huge post about how much of a fiacso flights were. :D;

So, for now, a pair of memes. The first: year's end look back (first sentence (or first few, in my case) from the first post of each month, whee~):

The Year in Review )

And now that the tl;dr is over, another meme (ganked from [livejournal.com profile] voodoobob) that promises to be fun:

You name three characters, I have to pick one to push off a cliff, one to marry and one to challenge to Super Smash Brothers. Stick to the fictional characters, either gender is okay.

HAVE FUN. :D
Numbers 18 and 24.

18, I hate being lumped in with the fanbrats. Argh.

24, I LAWLED. SO HARD. WHO REMEMBERS THIS MADNESS? XDDD

I also saw Avenue Q for the second time tonight, taking my roomie (who saw it with me the first time) and two friends, one guy and one girl. Expressions on guy friend's face were, at times, more amusing than the goings-on onstage. X3

And for now? That is all. Have fun, flist~ ♥
