This does not, however, excuse you all from my fandom-related blather. This entire fiasco started with a conversation about Sonic games and why hedgehogs (and only hedgehogs) could tap into the power of the Chaos Emeralds.
I made a crack about how they were all related. Going off my penchant for crossing fandoms, I then made a crack about how they were all Petrellis.
It was only after we really started talking about it that we realized everything fit.
Start with the oldest brother. He's been around longer than everyone else, he tends to be the sanest of the bunch (though he's made some fantastically terrible choices before), and he's got one pretty solid power that he uses. Think Nathan (flight) and Sonic (running).
Then we have the younger brother. He's a bit more powerful, much less controllable, and somehow has the ability to use other powers in addition to his own. He's also slightly emotastic in places and loses his memory halfway through the second season. Think Peter and Shadow.
Then there's the brother that comes out of nowhere. He's psychic, he's slightly less stable than anybody else we've met so far, and he spends half his life being manipulated. A good portion of his waking hours are spent trying to kill a particular someone. Think Sylar and Silver.
And finally, there's the guy in charge. He's a tad megalomaniacal, certifiably batshit, and a master manipulator. He'd love nothing more than to take everyone's powers for himself, and we're fairly certain he's out to rule the world with them. He also doesn't really treat people like family and doesn't hesitate to toss his recalcitrant emotastic son around a bit (whether it be through a window or into a pit of lava). Think Mr. Petrelli and Mephiles.
The parallels fall off a bit after that, but that was enough to keep both me and my roomie in stitches for a good fifteen minutes.
