Turns out an hour is not nearly long enough to get everything done that I want done in a day. Funny how these things go. |D

I'm going to be here long enough to say that we've signed the papers for a new apartment and are moving (by pieces) starting the day after SDCC, that I am stoked and a half about SDCC even though organization is fail, and the LP is going swimmingly!

So basically I love you all and I shall chat with you when I have more tiiiiiime ;;;

Episode two is up already!

Yeah, we're really zipping through this which is hilarious when each episode takes an hour to render and two to upload. Turns out the video issues happened during the first conversion, so there's nothing I can do on this end - they'll be persistent through episode four and hopefully we can fix them at our next recording session.

In other news, farmer's markets are amazing, I'm none too pleased that our diocese has decided to retranslate the mass, Trigun is the biggest nostalgiabomb ever, and my little brother answers his Twitter more often than his phone which beats my older brother not answering his at all. Also, I'll be in a family reunion in Colorado starting Thursday. Said family reunion includes the aunt and cousins that always provide me with stories (the Love look, the amazing shitting rock, deadly neurotoxin, and fans of Twilight).

Life's gonna be interesting for a while.

It's been a while, huh. I need to quit neglecting this journal. As it is, it's after midnight and I have work in the morning, so this'll be a pretty quick rundown.

My dad is doing fine! He's been taking it easy and not working ridiculous hours anymore (glory hallelujah) and he's doing a lot better, at least according to mom. They've also found a house and put a bid on it, so we'll see how that goes. Will they be moved before the family reunion? Probably not, but they've definitely got their eyes on it.

My first video shoot went pretty well, all things considered. We shot video for a project at work on Friday - rented out a studio and everything. The talent we cast (that I spent time interviewing and basically got first say on who played who, yeah baby) worked really well together, and we got thirty scenes shot in about six hours - not bad at all, actually. There were a few tense moments, and one in which I managed to spill makeup on an actor's suit jacket (note to self: Leslie is doing the makeup from now on because ARGH), but overall it went pretty well. Rick was happy, Leslie was happy, Terrence was happy, and I was bushed, so I figure life is good.

In other news, getting LA County workers together for a conference call is like herding cats. I kind of want business cards with "professional cat herder" on them now. (And yes, I have seen the commercial, and yes, it is hilarious.)

Disneyland with lynxgriffin on Sunday! It was pretty low key, though I spent more on souvenirs then I think I ever have at Disneyland - blame it on getting my Disneyland In A Box prize together for my help_japan winner. The POTC preview that they have is amusing, Blackbeard freaks me the hell out and I love it, and the show beforehand is cute and hilarious by turns. On the downside, there is no group rate for special seats for Fantasmic, so I either need to finagle something or give up on that one for my birthday. We'll see how things go there. I do love spending time at that park, though - so lovely and relaxing. ♥

In RP news, I've got Jason Stackhouse in Second City - we've only gotten as far as him thinking Pinkie Pie is somehow a drug flashback, and I don't want to handwave things until that thread gets a little further, so we'll see. Linkara is in over his head - per usual - Rarity is loud and abuses italics like whoa - per usual - and Rosette...I'm really tempted to drop her, if only because nothing is happening with her. I think I'm past the point where I can successfully get into her head and play her well - my lack of interest and her lack of CR have pretty well made that obvious. Honestly, I think DC might've closed the book on things with her, and I've been trying to find an epilogue instead of enjoying it for the fantastic story it was. Again - and I have been using this phrase far too much - we'll see.

Finally, as if I don't do enough writing, I'm thinking of picking up one of those 100 Themes challenges and getting one down every day. Even if they're not all that good, if all else fails, it'll at least guarantee that I write 100 words every day, and I think I need something constant like that.

On the RP front, I need to figure out what the deal is with Linkara, talk with Lyra about doing stuff with Eb and Rosette, get caught up for Rarity, and try to convince myself that picking up Jason Stackhouse is a bad idea, no really, it is, and if I can't do that, then come up with a journal name for him. Life as usual, really.

Not the best video in the world, but I'm proficient in Camtasia now. My bosses both approved and called it "cute," which was...interesting... and in my book, that's a success.

So, anyone remember that AMV I made a few months ago? The one I marathoned one weekend in September and sent to a few con AMV competitions in the vague hope that one of them might contact me back?

I just found out that Anime Los Angeles is showing my AMV in their competition.

...it's been a few hours since that revelation and I'm still grinning and squeeing and generally making an idiot of myself over it.

So, if anyone's in the LA area and free on Saturday the 8th, wanna come to one day of a con with me to watch me have a minor brain explosion (for multiple reasons) when they show my video on the big screen in front of lots of people?

I mean, if all else fails, the opportunity for Kia-inspired schadenfreude is fantastic.

Yeah, the writing-fic-until-after-midnight things really needs to stop. It's absolutely killing my brain, and I kind of need that to function. I have quite a bit of egg stuff to work on tonight, and now that the plot bunny is out on paper, I can hopefully get to it. Given that the one I have right now is slowly going rotten, I really need to step up the search for fresh ones.

I've pretty much decided I'm going to Disneyland on Saturday. I'll get World of Color fastpasses in the morning, spend the early afternoon in the ESPN zone watching the Falcons game, and do dinner and a show (possibly two shows, depending on whether I feel like catching Fantasmic...which is usually a yes) in the evening. I just really need the concentrated dose of happy this weekend.

For those of you who missed the last entry, I have indeed finished my weekend-eating project. nalina fixed my audio problems, and the AMV will be up on YouTube sometime this evening. I will definitely be double posting when that happens. If feedback is positive, I may well enter it in convention AMV competitions, just to see how things go.

Now that that's over, I'm trying to get rid of the plot bunnies that have been hounding me. It just never ends, does it. XD

Thanks to my weekend off, I'm way the hell behind in RP. Can anybody tell me if I owe you tags...? I know Linkara's got two and Usopp's got two, but aside from that I can't remember any back tags I need to do. Kia's memory is terrible.

5. Favorite Mini Game

You know, I never really made a habit of playing a lot of minigames - I was always too busy going NEEDS MOAR PLOT 8O. That said, I did like mail delivery in Twilight Town, if only because it was quick, to the point, and not tough enough to get utterly frustrating.

Plus, performing a skateboard jump to deliver mail to a pidgeon in midair is never not funny.

6. Favorite Magic Spell

Cure. Oh man is it ever Cure. I feel like that's a bit of a given, but nonetheless. Aside from that bit of obvious, I really liked what I've been calling shotgun spells - they're the ones that shoot a concentrated blast that really flies. In KH1, it was Fire; in KH2, it's Blizzard.

7. Favorite Summon/D-Link

Once again, I pretty well fail the point of the game by not using a whole lot of summons. XD Press X to Kill Things, indeed. I was particularly fond of Genie in KH, though - he was certainly useful against Lock, Shock, and Barrel.

For those of you who've heard me yammer on about this on AIM and/or Twitter, I finally put up the half a video I have for Dare You to Move. I started it in 2006 and never really finished. I might eventually - for now, my brain has been taken over by the new AMV. As it is, here's the unfinished one:



It's actually an a capella cover of Switchfoot's song, which I actually like better than the original. YMMV, I guess.

Also, I'm having a problem with Movie Maker (yes, I make my AMVs in Windows Movie Maker, it's all I have, sh'up). The audio file is being read as six minutes long when it's only four and a half, and any time I click on a point in the middle of the song, it's out of sync - it's the wrong part of the song. To get things to sync up, I have to play everything from the beginning. I'm going to try reimporting the audio file; aside from that, has anyone run into this before and does anyone know how to fix it?

On a vaguely related note, I'm not surprised there are a lot of BBS AMVs out there already. What made me snicker madly was the plethora of BBS AMVs set to Linkin Park songs. I know I really shouldn't judge until I watch them; it's just the concept that amuses me.

Also, there's a random one set to Miss Murder. Uh. 'Kay then.

Just to make this entire entry about Kingdom Hearts and well-nigh pointless to anyone not in the fandom, I'm finishing it off with the 30 day meme, including the day I missed.

3. Favorite Keyblade Design

Testament /cough cough

Fenrir, because Fenrir is freaking hilarious. It's basically just a giant car key that you get for handing Sephiroth's rear to him. I've never gotten it myself, but the idea just tickles me pink.

As far as less lulz and more aesthetic appeal go, my favorite is the Kingdom Key. It's got a relatively simple design so far as Keyblades go, but it works very well as a symbol of the game. It's simplicity belying badassitude, and I love it.

If we're talking favorite Keyblade to employ in the trade of asskicking, I remember using Bond of Flame for a very long time. Love that one.
