I'm going to go out on a limb here and say David's going to win.

Now that I'm done being a smartass, time for actual thoughts on the episode.
...David Cook, what happened. ;_; Seriously, man, you've been wowing the audience all season, and on the very last episode you take a bit of a fall. "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" wasn't your choice to do, but it was a song with which you could've blown people right out of the water.
I do have to say I loved the second song, and I really want you to release that one on a record. It was pretty cool. :3
And for your choice...I understand your reasons for doing Collective Soul, and you did it well, but...c'mon. I wanted something that was going to make me get out of my chair and cheer, and that wasn't it. Sorry, man.
Though I am glad your brother got to come see you in the finale. Very sweet. :3
...David Archuleta. For some reason, I just don't like you. Honestly, I've got no idea why. I just don't. It could be the fact that you don't seem to have a discernable personality (at least not that I've seen. You could be anything under that voice and the audience would never know). It could be the fact that your moronic screaming fangirls won't shut the hell up when the judges are talking. (Pet peeve? Hell yes.)
Or it could be the fact that you've done the same thing every single week without fail. The sole exception to that rule - "My Boo" - made me laugh so hard I nearly cried. I can see you winning, and I can see you releasing an album, but really, if it's nothing but ballads, I'd never buy it. I like a little oomph on a CD to balance out the slow songs, and while I'm a sucker for a 3/4 beat, I'd never buy a CD full of ballads. Sorry, nope.
And finally, to the judges: I laughed at your opinions of the second round. I just did. Of course there's not going to be a whole lot of musical or lyrical content to the song - they're finalists from a songwriting competition! Amateur songs rarely ever have the polished effect of professional songs. It's not so much picking from the barrel as it is having a very small barrel to begin with. A bucket, if you will.
And I'd totally buy Cook's second round song, but only if he's performing it. He makes it sound good. "If you don't dream big then what's the point in dreaming..." Do want. Do. Want.

The long and short of all this is, I am such a dork for Idol and I'm really rooting for Cook. Show of hands: who's buying albums when they come out, and whose will you buy (if at all)? And is anybody else buying all the songs off iTunes before they go offline tomorrow? XD

I'm working lunch tomorrow, dinner Thursday, both shifts Friday, and lunch Saturday, in case somebody wants to come bother me. :D
