So for those of you who were wondering what became of Songfest, that musical-slash-competition that ate my life these past few weeks:

We won.

Let me do that again, for further emphasis:

WE WON!

As our producer explained it, we were up against four civilizations: Ancient Rome, Renaissance Italy, Ancient Egypt, and 1920s America. What brings down civilizations? Disease. What was our theme? The Black Plague.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is my happy face.

First of all, Songfest is ridiculously awesome hell yeah. I need to post a picture of my makeup and costume. There's a reason we start with Thriller. X3

The rest of this is incredibly fannish and full of squee and such. You have been warned.

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] lovediamond! I have been fail and a half at tagging and I seriously owe you an apology ;;; I also need to chat you up again, because I have half a tag written and saved and then I totally blanked on what direction we're going with this thread. MY APOLOGIES FOR THE FAAAAAAAAIL [/grovels]

Also, in that direction, I saw a comment in the last anonmeme about how damn difficult it is to play a villain when everybody wants the Good Guys to triumph 100%. I feel like, with Facilier, I can now relate to that sentiment. I mean, I promise not to kill your character unless you want them killed, but come on now, it's a game full of high schoolers. Not everybody is smart enough to resist the guy offering to make your wildest dreams come true. I mean, look at the two I have in the game: J trusts his Music Sense, and Facilier's music is creepy and a half, so he'd be out; Levitas, however, would be suckered in ninety seconds flat. Thing is, I'm not getting a lot of response for Facilier. A big part of it is definitely my recent lack of activity - I will definitely own up to that. The other things is, I have maybe three volunteers and I can't seem to get anyone else interested. I dunno. It might require a different approach, or I might have to work around the "but I don't want my character creeped on even though he has no reason to avoid the Shadow Man" reaction, or maybe both. Either way, planning needs to happen for Facilier.

While we're on the RP front, I'd forgotten how much fun Death can be. I've got to post for him more often, and should I ever get time to read again I really need to do a canon review. Same with Rosette, though I don't think it's my tag there.

So far as jobs go, I'm still working on my I Can Has Cheezburger questions, if anyone's interested in giving me feedback. I think I need lessons in being funny. |D I'm also still on the job search and thinking that I need to write an abstract of my thesis to send out with my resume, since that seems to interest a lot of people. While I'm at it, the thesis needs work too.

On the epic fansquee front, Soul Silver and Princess and the Frog are shipped and should arrive around Monday, which means I'll probably get them Wednesday. Good times there. :D [livejournal.com profile] aviekokyre, if it's physically possible to get one in this game, I'm totally taking you up on your offer of a Spinda.

Today's Woot! Shirt is absolutely fantastic. I don't have long to figure out if I can justify spending the money after the aforementioned big purchase, but dang do I want one.

While we're on the subject of things Kia shouldn't spend money on, these necklaces are beautiful and commissionable. Why must everything tempt me so ;~;

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

On Idol the other night, they had my favorite Idol performing my most-played song in iTunes. Behold the epic:

And for those of you who would also like the epic on their iPods, iTunes was kind enough to put it up. I'd lay really good odds that this cover sells more than all of the Top 12 singles combined.

I do so love it when my fandoms collide, especially when music is involved.

On a totally random note, this pretty much describes my life. It's brilliant in a scary and strange sort of way.

I think that's about it. I need to go crash out so I can be coherent for my internship and another Songfest show, huzzah :D
I spent six hours at Songfest tonight. It's going to be a very long and exhausting week.

It's also going to be awesome. If we keep up the good work, we're going to be the group to beat this year.

Get your tickets, all. Performances start tomorrow and they are going to be fantastic.

I really need to start putting more stuff in here. It's getting to be too long between posts, though it isn't as though I have much more to say than OH GAD LIFE IS EATING MY LIFE AAAAAAAAAA

I'm slightly busy. |D

Though I tell you what, Songfest is going to be awesome. If it weren't major spoilers, I'd rattle off the list of artists whose songs we're using for our group to show you just how awesome it is. I will say that I knew all the songs, I have all but one, and I am somewhat ashamed that I don't have that one because it too is awesome. I can, however, tell you the overall theme since that's been recently released: History In the Making.

Performances are next week. I am nervous as hell and so, so excited. *A*

In other news, thesis work is going slowly. Being an awful procrastinator might well have something to do with that. Job applications are going a bit better, but I still have to finish things for ICHC before I send them in. I need to get on that.

I also have a project to work on for my Writing for Technology class. It's a digital storytelling thing - I have to write a story and then put pictures and video and music and such to it. |D I'm thinking of writing about my recent trip to Disneyworld, since it's fresh and I have a metric ton of pictures and video and no shortage of Disney songs. That's either going to be fun or a pain in the ass. We'll see.

Finally, I keep running across this meme, so I suppose I should do it: When you see this meme, post a poem on your LJ.

It's All the Same to the Clam - Shel Silverstein

You may leave the Clam on the ocean floor
It's all the same to the Clam.
For a hundred thousand years or more,
It's all the same to the Clam.
You may bury him deep in mud or muck,
Or carry him round to bring you luck.
Or use him for a hockey puck.
It's all the same to the Clam.

You may call him Frank or Jim or Nell
It's all the same to the Clam.
Or make an ashtray from his shell.
It's all the same to the clam.
You may take him riding on a train
or leave him sitting in the rain.
You'll never hear the Clam complain.
It's all the same to the Clam.

Yes the world may stop or the world may spin
It's all the same to the Clam.
And the sky may come a fallin' in
It's all the same to the Clam.
And man may sing his endless songs,
of wronging rights and righting wrongs.
The Clam just sets - and gets along.
It's all the same to the Clam.
You know, if I'd known all my classes were going to be cancelled today, I would've called off work and gone to Disneyland with the rest of the Gallifrey attendees. Such is life, huh. XD I've got con prep to do anyways, so this was likely for the better. Yeeeeeeeayuh I'm stoked about Gallifrey tomorrow. :D

Aside from that, things have been relatively low-key around here. What-If Wednesday definitely ate my brain for a bit there, but I'm getting better. So far as classes and such go, it's been a lot of same-old-same-old. It's a very busy same-old-same-old, what with with a metric ton of reading and Songfest thrown into the mix, but it's still the same.

By the way, if you haven't bought Songfest tickets yet and you want to go, buy them. Saturday night's all but sold out already, and this year's show is going to be epic.

On an entirely different note, because of my internship, I will likely never be able to eat peanut butter again. For the love of all that is holy, guys, if you're going to sell your mouse and/or keyboard to a resale company, please clean it up before you do. That stuff is just gross.

Finally! Con update! For those of you who still don't know yet (and if you don't, where have you been), tomorrow at eleven a.m. my roomie, my little, and I are heading down to LA for Gallifrey One, the local Doctor Who convention. We'll be there all weekend, and there will likely be internet silence from me for the most part - I do have TxtLJ and a Twitter that I can update from my phone, but so far as responding to comments and such go, I'll probably not do much (if anything) until I'm home on Sunday. Internet costs moneys at the hotel, you see. If you need to get ahold of me, text me or dm me on Twitter. I shall return Sunday night or Monday morning with a metric ton of pictures and videos and such other things. :D

For those of you wondering what sort of shenanigans go on at said convention, I have examples from last year:

That is [livejournal.com profile] mrtonylee being the emcee and full of awesome in general and yes, he is the guy who signed my comic to Christine. Still not sure how I'm gonna bring that one up. XD

So yes! That will be this weekend, and Disneyworld afterwards. I cannot wait until Spring Break *A*

[/keeps a running tally of the number of comments that start with, "Take a nap. THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES!"]

It's been a long couple of days. Songfest started Thursday night, and we've had three practices since then - one a day every day for two hours. They get to be more exhausting than I expected - during the last ten minutes of today's, I resorted to imagining beat markers to keep myself going on the right choreography. Let's be honest here: EBA gets me through a heck of a lot more than I'll admit. Mission Complete, at the least.

So that's a ton of fun and a total life-eater. If anyone on campus wants tickets, get 'em fast - the finale's already just about sold out.

Also, saw Zombieland for the first time on Thursday with Tara, Kevin, and Megan. I spent the first twenty minutes in a state of Not Sure If Want. That was when they introduced Tallahassee. I decided it was want. To keep my thoughts as non-spoilery as possible, I did love the rules and how they kept popping up (especially Rule #2) and the Zombie Kill of the Week made me laugh my ass off. Overall, I really did appreciate that they focused more on the character relations than they did OMG KILL TEH ZOMBIES; however, when OMG KILL TEH ZOMBIES did come up, it was incredibly well done. All in all, it was quite a good movie.

Tonight was dinner with my roomie and my boyfriend's family (minus two of his brothers). I can totally see where he gets it from. |D Not the first time I've met his parents and his littlest brother, but nonetheless. Plus, we were at the Santa Monica pier, and roomie and I walked away from the encounter with a fedora apiece. Hers is white with a black ribbon; mine is black and shall have a white ribbon on it soon. I have somehow managed to acquire a Morris hat. |Db

Now that I'm all sorts of bushed and have a ton of stuff to do tomorrow, I suppose I should trundle off to bed now.
I'm putting these down right now to aid my failing memory. There's no guarantee I'll come back and expand on them, so if you want the story behind anything, leave a comment and I'll give you the rundown. :3

The highlights of Songfest, in no particular order:

- Shirt design
- Kanye glasses
- Finding someone else's contact on the inside of my Kanye glasses on finals night
- Ripped pants, tear-off pants, hot pink short pants
- Darnell's pump-up speeches every night: no pants, faces, knockout punch, and leaving it all on the floor
- More red spray paint than is good for anybody's help
- Doing it like ATOs
- Phoenix Wright: the Musical in twelve minutes or less
- "We're tired of being Pepperdine rejects!"
- Don't be the idiot who comes up on 8
- The heart, the heart, and the heart

The highlights of yesterday's Disneyland trip, in no particular order:

- Two secret Mickeys found: Pirates and Haunted Mansion
- Setting the self-pwn count at 3
- Al and the Tinkerbell clips
- All Kevins are somewhat hapless around determined girls
- Cheryle and the Tiki Room, which was. Um. Totally my fault
- Fantasmic
- When they said everything on that ship was edible, they meant it
- Waka Laka on Heavy
- The trash can drummers are still the coolest people ever
- I waited an hour in line for a Prince Ali that did not exist
- "For better...or for worse"
- Neither Kevin nor Caroline are allowed to drive anymore
- I swear I'm getting my mother a dictionary
- Adventures in driving
- There's a guy wearing my letters why?

Hit me up for details. XD
First of all, top o' the morning to you!

Happy St. Patrick's Day and shamrocks to anyone who knows the proper response to that.

Now, pertaining to the title: Songfest performances start tonight. It's going to be interesting and slightly very crazy. We have an awesome theme and the kickassingest choreography in the show, but we need to work on energy - our director keeps telling us that it needs to be "corny - Disney faces!" When that's the catchphrase, you know it's going to be good.

We have an aggressive song, a love song, a happy song, an angry song...and the guy's dance. I can't think of a Songfest year when we haven't had an awesome guy's dance, and this year is no exception.

So yes. First performance is tonight at 7:30. All my Pepperdine buds, buy tickets. Come see the show. I promise you it is awesome.
