I am fairly certain I've managed to lose my mind completely, at least as far as internet tact and policy go.

Or maybe I'm just completely out of patience, I don't know.

Somebody put up a secret in [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets yesterday about how Disgaea was a terrible game, he just wanted his friends to STFU about it, etcetera...and then he insulted Disgaea fans as a whole.

And I told him to grow a pair and tell his friends he didn't like the game.

Using that exact phrasing.

I have never actually used that phrase in any semblance of seriousness before. Nobody ever replied to the comment, but that doesn't change the fact that I actually said it to somebody.

And then today people complained in the [livejournal.com profile] news post (surprise, surprise). My favorite comment included the following:

Please clarify this:

The owners of paid/sponsored accounts will not see advertisements in other people's journals, while existing paid users will not see banners in a sponsored users' profiles. The branded styles will respect ?style=mine, which will allow paid users to avoid seeing branded styles if they wish to do so.

Wow. That's very, very confusing. Can one of you LJ staff members answer this very simple question: will paid users see the branded banners, etc. on sponsored journals or not? Will paid account users see ads/banners in the profiles or journals of paid sponsored accounts?

Now how hard is that to answer? Surely, if you've got more than one or two synapses firing, you'd know that this question would come up, and you'd have crafted specific and clear language clarifying this.

My response was as follows:

The answers to those questions are No and No, respectively.

The branded styles will respect ?style=mine, which will allow paid users to avoid seeing branded styles if they wish to do so.

There's your answer to number 1.

The owners of paid/sponsored accounts will not see advertisements in other people's journals, while existing paid users will not see banners in a sponsored users' profiles.

There's your answer to question number 2.

To quote Hobbes, "Reading is no trouble if you don't sweat comprehension."

...I am never rude to people online. Never.

I have no idea what's happened to me, but I can't say I don't like it. XD
