I keep telling myself I'll update this journal, and then it doesn't happen. Go me. XD
Yes, I am home safe. I've been here since Friday afternoon. I'm actually sleeping at night. It's a fantastic feeling, that.
So yeah. Finals rundown.
HUMANITIES: Oh man why was this even considered a final? It was an extended quiz for which I studied very little and blathered on about art in the essay. Somehow, I managed to get 100 on it. I just. I have no idea. Class grade:B A-, evidently. Was not expecting that.
RELIGION: This was the final for which I spent two and a half hours in the library studying with the majority of my class. Everything we studied in there showed up on the final. I That's the most confident I've ever felt about a final exam, and I somehow managed to get 100 on that as well. Class grade:B Also an A-. I like these surprises.
POE: Well, because I am a dumbass and spent almost all of Thursday spazzing like a moron and packing crazily, I studied very little for this one. I have no idea how I did on the final proper, since it's not on Blackboard, but I think I got a low A/high B there. Hopefully the incredibly informal tone of my essay didn't kill anything. Class grade: A-.
TOPICS IN PROFESSIONAL WRITING: This wound up being a take home final anyway, which I did on the night before class. My presentation (which clocked in at about 8 minutes - the only presentation to stay under the 10 minute limit and the last one to go) netted me a 9/10 - prof loved the cat macros but thinks my slides could have had more variety or pictures. Riiiiight. No idea how the take home final went, since it's not on Blackboard either. Class grade: A.
CONVO: Oh gad do we care? Class grade: A.
Bottom line is, scholarship is safe. Huzzah. :D
...Y'know, it occurs to me that my grades would probably be 110% better if I applied myself even a little bit more. I mean, I'm smart - to put none too fine a point on it - but I'm nowhere good enough to be doing what I've been doing so far as my work ethic goes and still be getting good grades. Should probably think into this (and, y'know, apply myself) next semester. Huh.
But yeah, I made it out of those intact and somehow got home in one piece (and withoutthe T-Virus Swine Flu, knock wood). I was told by one of my managers that I would likely be re-hired on Wednesday (after Cinco de Mayo, so there goes that plan), which would give me my old job at On the Border back. I also have an application for The Plate - they're this high class little place that's hiring cocktail waitresses. I could totally serve booze to people and smile. I'm thinking it might be a step up so far as tip-affected salary goes. There's also a new Red Lobster opening, so I'm applying there as well. We'll just have to see how everything works out. If all else fails, with any luck I'll still have OTB.
Paixao is rolling again (yay!) and DC decided finals week would be a great time to drop epic plot. I swear one or more of my characters is going to get killed or severely injured by the time all this is over. XD
But I know there's one reason y'all are reading this: I have dogs, and I've been promising you all pictures of them for forever. XD
So, without further ado:

This is Mac, short for Macintire. He's the alpha male, and he raced for a year or so - up until he injured his leg. Now he's one of ours and still ridiculously fast. He's three and a half - still young.

And cute. Can't forget cute.

This is Finn, short for Finnegan. He's also young - younger than Mac - at two, and still considered a puppy. He was in all of four races; he would get to the first turn in the track, get distracted by the people in the stands, and go say hi to them instead of finishing the race. He wasn't real popular with the racers. XD

He's a total derp, but he's our total derp. Plus, he's also cute.

D'awww.
And I'm sure you all need video, right?
Yes. They are that awesome.
So that's my life so far in convenient spam format. It shall be served with ham and eggs and possibly featured in a Monty Python sketch.
