Eh, I get busy. Life happens.

A PREVIEW OF WHAT IS TO COME:
- The Disney Soda Fountain
- My Latest Temp Job
- Computer Lessons and You
- Being Proactive and Getting Nowhere Anyway
- More Job Interviews, AKA "I Don't Know How to Deal With This!"

The Disney Soda Fountain is possibly the best thing on Hollywood. True, I haven't quite made it to Mann's for a premiere yet, but the Soda Fountain is Disney and ice cream, the two things scientifically proven to make everything better.

Kingdom Hearts science is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

The Pin Trader's sundae is heaven on Earth in ice cream form, especially with peppermint. It's also more than big enough to share - something to remember for next time. I also spent money on pins, which I really need to not do until I get a steady job, but at least I'll have a bit of a leg up next time I go trading. Limited edition of 300? Yes, please, I think so.

Monday saw me at my first temp job with my current agency - filling in for receptionist duties at a dental supply company in Chatsworth, which wound up being a 30 minute drive down the 101 and Winnetka. The guy I reported to was a tad scatterbrained but a really nice guy. There was also a very obvious hierarchy, and for most of my time there I wound up reporting to the woman above him. It was a small office - only about six people - but everyone was really nice and really helpful, especially when it turned out I didn't have the extensions I needed to actually get the phone to work. Oops. |D

Phones were slow, so I wound up doing a lot of data entry - the rather tedious kind that Needs to Be Done but that Nobody Wants to Do. People were pretty stoked when they saw me doing the reports, which led to several jokes about hiring me on full time....which is kind of sad when that's not a possibility, given how tightfisted they told me their corporate office was being in regards to hiring people. ;^; All in all, in three days, I churned out seven reports, two copies each, that averaged between forty and seventy pages per copy. I also figured out the binding machine and bound them all. If they ever need another temp, I'm fairly certain they will ask for me back. Between people saying they liked me and a paycheck in the bank, I'd call this one a success. :Db

One of my other tempt jobs involves teaching an older man how to use his computer. It's...interesting, to say the least. He's eager to learn, but he hasn't got a great retention rate, so we wind up doing a lot of review every session. Given that I haven't exactly taught this sort of thing before, it's a learning process on both sides and, admittedly, an exercise in patience. Right now, it's just a whole lot of "interesting."

On yet another job note, I have discovered that posts on Monster put up by temp agencies tend to be out of date. That is ever so slightly annoying. 8D

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada and I have been pounding pavement at the mall, picking up applications for seasonal jobs and doing our damndest to actually secure one. I walked into a store called Brighton Collectibles, dropped off a resume, picked up an application, and headed out, only to see that the application included questions about why I wanted to be part of their team and what my favorite product of theirs was. Given that I'd never even walked in the store before, never mind shopped there, I figured I'd skip the application entirely.

The manager I talked with called me at 2:30 this afternoon and asked me to come in for an interview on Sunday with the completed application. Evidently they quite liked me. Couldn't say I was expecting that. 8D

Also, upon closer inspection of the application, one of the open positions is Cookie Baker.

I think I'll be doing my research on Brighton this weekend and coming in on Sunday with a clue, because that sounds like a whole lot of fun. XD

So yeah, that is Stuff Kia's Been Up To. Time to get some sleep, because that's somehow one thing I still haven't managed to accomplish with any degree of success this week. |Db

Also, I love this icon far too much. Can you tell yet. XD And it's almost time to bust out the Christmas icons, hee~
