And here they are:
1. What book or books were special to you in your childhood?
I really read whatever I could. Where the Red Fern Grows and Beat the Turtle Drum were especially poignant, and I really enjoyed Sandy and the Rock Star (now out of print) and The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle.
2. What was particularly special or memorable about those books?
They all had wonderful plots and deep characters - they were not your typical children's novles, but rather real works of art meant for younger (but not too young) audiences.
3. Have you re-read any of them as an adult?
I've re-read Where the Red Fern Grows. I really should read the others too.
4. If so, were the books as good as you remembered them?
Yes. Yes, it was.
5. What do you think about movies being made out of children's classics (like the Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of The Rings, etc.)?
I figure it's like it is with every other book: as long as they do a good job of it (not necessarily perfect, just good), it's fine. The Chronicles of Narnia movie, for example, was very well done, and I enjoyed it immensely.
