So, my cousins are here. It's been a very long two days, and it's shaping up to be another very long...well, I don't know. They haven't exactly told us how long they'll be staying. Surprise, surprise.
I have two cousins here right now. Joanna is going into seventh grade, and Melanie is going into first. Melanie is possibly the cutest kid I've ever seen, and I love her to death. Joanna, I've felt like smacking for a good bit. I think she was a bit spoiled before Melanie was born, and I'm not sure that's changed. She also bosses/punts Melanie around a fair bit, which irks me. Joanna can be a good kid, and she can be fun, but only for small amounts of time, it seems.
She's also in the phase where she has to be right about everything ever at all times, and ohhhhhhh it's annoying.
But I do love Melanie, and I love playing with her. She's such a sweetheart, especially when her sister's not around - Joanna can be incredibly overbearing, and Melanie's a lot more outgoing without her around.
...damn I'm biased. XD;
And my aunt's another fun, fun person. She's into bioenergy and organics and all that fun stuff, so it's rather interesting having a conversation with her - it's like talking to a flower child a few decades too late.
...she's also a natural blonde.
But I can definitely see where Melanie got her sweetheart side, and as much as I dislike sleeping in the basement, I like having family around. All in all it's a good time. :3
And to completely change subjects...work.
I was in red tonight. Now, getting slammed on a Monday night in the food service business is not unlike the Spanish Inquisition: nobody expects it.
The Spanish were out in full force tonight. My first table was a fifteen-top, and it got completely mad after that. I walked out with about fifty dollars for five hours' work, so i'm pretty happy with how things turned out.
And I think I had one of my funniest tables ever tonight, if only because the teenager there had such an incredibly terrible attitude. He was getting The Talk (heads close together, voices low, noooooot happy) from his mom, he disappeared for a while, and when he came back and gave me his order, he challenged me - detailed order rattled off ridiculously quickly, followed up with, "You got that?"
The reply was, "Yes...and by the way, our cheese enchiladas don't normally come with cilantro." No, I couldn't help one-upping the smug fourteen-year-old. The way he came off, he sounded like he was pretty damn smart, but he was a bit rude about it. I don't think it was too bad, especially since I went back to the kitchen laughing nearly every time I talked to him. Goooood times at this table. XD
And I've realized that Toon Disney after midnight is hilarious. I caught an episode of Digimon: Data Force, which is probably the funniest damn thing I've ever seen, and now I'm watching the really old X-Men cartoon. This channel is just ridiculous and I love it.
