Favorite Son

[Chorus]
The elephant trunk and Democrat donkey will be down the drain and sunk
The day the people's victory is won
With spirit and spunk he's gonna debunk the jabber and junk that they've been feeding us
Hooray for our favorite son!

[Solo]
You Democrats, Republicans, I'm asking for your vote
I've got this debunk party with some new ideas to float
Don't ask me what my platform is - I leave that stuff alone
For no one keeps their promises as history has shown
I'll run a clean campaign and that will be my winning card
Considering the stuff you've seen, well that won't be too hard

[Quartet]
Mister Chairman!
The great Sooner State of Oklahoma
(forgive the interruption, the typist has blanked this line)
The great Sooner State of Oklahoma
Casts its twenty-two votes, twenty-two votes, twenty-two votes
For

[Chorus]
William Fred Adair Rogers
William Fred Adair Rogers
William Fred Adair Rogers
Yeah!
The elephant trunk and Democrat donkey will be down the drain and sunk
The day the people's victory is won
With spirit and spunk he's gonna debunk the jabber and junk that they've been feeding us
Hooray for our favorite
Hooray for our favorite
Hooray for our favorite son!

...guys, I don't know how I feel about everything. I voted for McCain, but I'm not heartbroken and I'm not moving to Canada. I just...I trust that America chose the person right to lead it at this point in history, and I trust God to lead he who is leading us. For now, that's all I can do, and it's exactly what I'm going to do.

I'll be honest. McCain was fucked in my viewpoint the moment he picked Palin.

As for God leading us, well... I think it's time we led ourselves. I believe in the gods, don't get me wrong, but we can't just be baby-sat all the time. Children need to grow up and live their own lives, you know?

You can't move to Canada, they have milk in bags up there!

Yeah I dunno. I'm tired. It's amazing I'm even managing sentences right now.

IN CONCLUSION: POTATO.

It's the end of the world as we know it?

At least no matter how you look at it, that line's true.

oddly enough, that's the song that was stuck in my head all day Sept. 11...

Well said. I'm not terribly excited about the outcome of this election either, but I wouldn't have felt any different if McCain had won. I just really hope that we chose the right man for the job and that we can fix up some of the messes we're in right now. God will take care of us. He always has.

The ancient greeks said it best, for me: the gods help those who help themselves. God will help you make your descisions but he's not gonna make 'em for you. As in Jesus' example, we gotta go make our world ourselves - sitting back and being safe doesn't do a danged thing.

*hug*
