Formal was fantastic. I had such a blast, despite the fact I only knew about half the songs that were played (what can I say? Rap is not my thing).

Can has blackmail pictures. :D

And my date sure as hell sends some confusing signals sometimes. We're just friends, but it was okay to rub my bare back while we were in the limo because...? Like I said, confused.

I'm also bushed. Bedtime soon. |D

Only problem with that theory is, he gave me the Just Friends speech around two weeks ago, the week after I asked him to Formal.

So, yeah. I have no idea.

Boys are so dumb with the "ONLY FRIENDS" thing. A lot of times they throw that line out as a safety net in case they do something seriously dumb to insult you. They hope it'll get them some slack.

I don't think this is that situation...Kevin and I were in London together, and we spent much of the semester making sarcastic commentary at one another. I reeeeeally don't think he's worried about insulting me. XD

Everybody's different, but I know I'm usually pretty confusing and confused right around the boundary between non-relationship and relationship. The brain chemicals responsible for infatuation are almost chemically indistinguishable from heroin; it's hard to be clear, honest and thoughtful (to yourself as well as others) when you're coked up on dopamine. I thought for a long time that that would change as I got older, but all that's really changed is that as time goes on, I'm more and more resilient in adapting to whatever happens after the chemical storm.

Anyway, this fogey's take is that it sounds like the attraction is there; the only question is whether he's willing to open up emotionally to the possibility of a relationship. If there's interest on your end, you could sound that out by sending signals of your own, like touching his arm or shoulder a little more often than you normally do when you're talking. And go with your gut; there are three basic unconscious responses that you can usually pick up in a few seconds: "Do want," "Do not want," and "So confused." Confusion probably means he needs time to figure himself out.

I can vouch for the "Just Friends" speech being really quite true. *wince* Sorry. That being said, I'm glad you had a fun time! I saw fbook photos and your dress was lovely. =]
