So for those of you who have completely missed it, we've had two new videos for Kingdom Hearts these past two days. Usually they like to spread out the brain breaks. This is new.
We've had the official trailer for the uh... 3DS game. Which... Gah, what did they call that? Dream Drop Distance? That'd be--You know, I can work with the pun, but I like the Jungle Cruise. I can do that. In which we have a Hunchback of Notre Dome world. YES. PLEASE. Environment based gameplay, at which point my roommate went, "So... when did Kingdom Hearts become Sonic the Hedgehog?" I don't know, but it's beautiful. I'm keeping it. And another installment in this crazy ass story. You know, I'll work with it. It sounds good. Like I need another reason to get a 3DS.
So this morning, I'm on break from work, and I'm checking my friends list because smart phones are beautiful, beautiful things. And I come across this video... Evidently the... um... Final Mix of BBS has been released in Japan. And someone's already got the secret movie out. My god people work fast.
So, I'm watching it, and I go "Oh okay. There's some scenes from KH1, and it says one. And there's some scenes from BBS, and it says zero. Why is it rewinding. What is it doing? What do you mean .5?"
Evidently BBS is giving a direct sequel. Means it's volume two. Which include scenes of... the--Aqua's Wayfinder glowing, and her staring like "What the hell's going on?" Didn't you make this thing? Shouldn't you know what it's doing? Come on now.
Random darkness storms in the background, and then her walking to--Oh my god! What is that? And we see a castle in the distance. And I'm sitting there going hang on. Hang on. Make that white, put in the blue background, put a little shooting star behind it... Doo doo doo doo~ [[Disney Movie Logo tune]] Son of a bitch! It's Snow--it's the Snow White--Sleeping Beauty Castle. I'm so upset; I'm getting them mixed up. [laughter]
So if this is KH1 from Aqua's point of view... I'm intrigued and terrified and worried and keysmashing like a crazy person, especially since we got footage of KH1 Riku holding a comatose Kairi at Big Ben. And the Twilight Town Crew going to investigate the mansion. And lots of [fu?] Xion. Wha-wha-wha-wha
I'm doing Nostalgia Critic thing "I'm calling? for two!" And massive explosions everywhere. I just don't. Even. I don't. I'm not sure if I want to hug Nomura or go and kindey punch him, but I... [sigh]
If anyone has any more information, hit me. It would be good to know.
Yes, Final Mix came out today; I got the shipping notice. Unless there's anything in the playable part of the Secret Ending, that was it for now. Japanese gamers may have the thing up by tonight, but we'll see.
The environment interaction reminded me more of Zelda, but I think that's because I've been walking on walls in iron boots for the past couple of days.
I told you once! It's a scene that was originally in the trailers and never made it to the game, unless they stuck it back in for the Final Mix. Although I doubt it. That'd be like hoping Laguna was around. He was in Enchanted Dominion, specifically.
Ah yeah, hopefully the player's good, then. It'd be boring to watch a battle where they sucked... unless you wanted to make fun of them. I did that with the Aqua playthrough back last year. They were awful and it was hilarious.
Just hope the Osaka team's on it, because if they are, we're good to go. It'd be sad if they handed this off to one of the other devs.
Yeah, I went ahead and checked Spirit and it's probably from the 2008 TGS or Jump Festa trailer. I still have '09 and '10 ones and it's not in either of those by that point. I also remember the quality wasn't as good as those because it was closed show or something.
YEEEEAH this just raises so many ASJDKAJDKLAJDLA questions...is Aqua the main playable character? Or Mickey? Do we see Radiant Garden fall/Kairi get transported to Destiny Islands? What is with flashes of Sora and Ven disappearing? EXPLAIN, GAME! EXPLAAAAAAAAAAIN!
I seriously watched this and then sat in my car and screamed for a good minute and a half. There was quite a bit of "WHAT DID I JUST WATCH" and "DAMMIT NOMURA" in there.
Eventually we'll get an explanation! ...I think! ...dammit Nomura ;A;
My brain has just about asploded from both this and the 3DS trailer, especially when I saw the castle. o.O I really want to know more about Aqua's adventures in the RoD now. And maybe we'll get to find out what the heck Mickey was doing all that time too...
And I'm guessing that random darkness storm is actually what happens when someone opens a door from the Realm of Light, all the Heartless start streaming through it. So that must have been either Radiant Garden falling or Destiny Islands...

That's a really good theory about the darkness storms, actually. I may well adopt that as headcanon until we get an official explanation...in three years or so. /facepalm
