So I went to go see Eragon with a group of friends this morning.
First of all, I was totally right. The theater was nowhere near full and getting there at 10 (for a 10:30 movie) was too early.
But anyway.
So pretty much, even if they wanted to make a movie from the second book, they have absolutely no setup for it. None at all. *sigh*
But yeah. Aside from that, my day's been pretty calm. It's actually rather nice. I need to keep on my toes, though - DOS Day isn't over yet. ^^
One more thing, just because I can: watch this. XD;

I suppose the movie itself would have been passable if I'd never read the book. As it was...well, I wanted to know where the book went.
~Roran did not leave home so he could avoid getting drafted into the army. He left to apprentice himself to...a blacksmith, was it?...so he could ask for the butcher's daughter's hand in marriage and have a job/land/a good home to offer her. Their love is a HUGE PLOT POINT in Eldest, yet in the movieverse she doesn't exist.
~WTF Saphira growing up in 30 seconds? And more WTF her introducing herself to Eragon? HE named HER. Oi.
~Wasn't the elf (Aria?) always described with black hair?
~The Urgals looked like frigging tropical cannibals. The Raa'zac were made of bugs. Urgals are supposed to be scary and Raa'zac are supposed to look like birds. Majorly lost in translation. *headdesk*
~Since when does Angela refer to herself in third person and look like Professor Trelawney? And what happened to her werecat?
~Eragon never figures out Brom is a rider - Brom pretty much has to spell it out for him.
~I thought the Varden was, y'know, mostly underground? Where'd all this open-air stuff come from?
~WHY ARE THE TROLLS PLOT DEVICES? DO WE GET ANY NAMES AT ALL?! NO!
~All of the politics of the Varden were dead or missing. No twins, no makeshift sorcerer's group...the resistance has lost all of its intrigue.
~How the hell does Ajihad know Murtagh is the son of...what's his face, the evil dragon rider, the king's right hand man...GAH names...that guy? We're not supposed to find that out until the next book, right?
~Oh, hey, Durzal gets a flying beastie of darkness with big evil teeth! ...OMGWTF. NO.
~That wound Durzal causes on Eragon's back? Y'know, the one that's such a freaking pain in the next book? Takes about .02 seconds of film. We never see the frigging thing again.
~BLATANT LACK OF DWARVES PART TWO.
~Eragon never nearly kills himself trying to heal Saphira. Heck, Saphira never even really got wounded in that fight.
~Ajihad dies. Murtagh is taken by the Urgals. Why doesn't this happen in the movie?
~Aria goes back to the land of the elves, while Eragon stays with the Varden to help them out. We have a Hollywood happy ending. Aww.
