I'm not going to bother to cut it because it's relatively short. Just be warned - oh hell, I'll cut it anyways.
It's just a little thing about Rosette's character that I've been thinking about (of course, in reference to why I don't like the anime). I've discovered one of the main reasons I just can't watch the anime (aside from the ranting the previous post) is because they change one of the fundamental aspects of her character.
They stop making her human.
If you look at the manga, one of the huge points of her character is that yes, she's human. She's the only person who isn't "special" in some way, shape, or form. Chrno's a demon, Satella's a jewel summoner, Joshua and Azmaria are both Apostles (and Joshua has horns, but really, that's *not* natural), Remington has Legion (or is an angel if, against all common sense, you are indeed watching the anime)...everybody's got something supernaturally special going for them except Rosette.
And yet somehow, she's the one that keeps people together and keeps them going. She found and befriended Chrno, she's bound and determined to rescue Joshua (and at the end, actually does it), she rescued Azmaria both from her stepfather and Lerajie and then later from her own fears (remember the dive scene in the second volume?), and as much as she hates to admit it, she and Satella play off each other like nobody's business. She doesn't have some great power to fall back on - she has herself, and she uses and works with that to the fullest extent. It's what makes her such a great character, and also what drives home one of the central themes of the manga - You don't have to be special to accomplish something: just don't give up on it and you'll go far.
And then in the anime, they make her some sort of saint/holy being/plot device/? with stigmata and holy wings and DEMON-BURNING BLOOD POWERS and it's just...ick. One of the driving points of the manga (the one mentioned above) just falls apart with that, and then what do we have to go on after that's over? Lots of drama and wangst and character death/destruction. It was like watching a city cave into a crater - you lose the central support and everything just crumbles. And really, not to put too fine a point on it, that's what happened. There's a very good reason she's the protagonist - the whole series is definitely structured around her.
So, yes, the anime did destroy a central strong character, and yes, that is the reason I no longer enjoy it.
...so much for "relatively short," huh.

The manga is, in my opinion, 120% better than the anime (although I do have friends who argue otherwise, so it's really a matter of opinion). I'm a sucker for happy endings, and after the ending of the anime was so terrible, I was hoping for so much better in the manga and was definitely not disappointed.
Rosette is indeed better in the manga. :3
And the only reason I'm doing long character analyses is because I play her in two different games, three once Unreal opens, and looking at the different aspects of the character brought out by each game...well, it's made me think. Sorry for the ramble. :D;
