What happened to me updating every day? Honestly. Good job, self.

It's not like I haven't been busy, though. I have been having a Social Life with Friends and getting ready for this weekend, when I head up to Cheyenne with my family to go see Brooks & Dunn on their farewell tour as part of Frontier Days. I want to go to the pancake breakfast (at which pancake flippers flip pancakes over their shoulders and kids with trays run around behind them in order to catch and serve said flying pancakes) and the rodeo as well. Mom...does not. I might try to get tickets with Dad and see how things go. Either way, it'll be a nice weekend. I get to bring my parasol and my handmade Pepperdine clock back, so. Good times. :Db

IDK if I will have WiFi so I suppose this is a short hiatus thing of sorts...? I have no idea. I'll get internet at some point somewhere.

I went out to dinner last night with [livejournal.com profile] ananda_jc and her hubby, [livejournal.com profile] orelle_peredhil, and [livejournal.com profile] jedizero, to this awesome little sushi place in Thousand Oaks. They give you an incredible amount of really good food for not very much money - two-almost-three meals' worth of tempura, teriyaki, and California rolls for eighteen bucks. I will definitely be going back there.

[livejournal.com profile] ananda_jc works at Pepperdine, and...well, there's an egg, to borrow the metaphor from [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin. I am preparing and having her look over things and being very cautiously hopeful.

On a completely different note, I'm getting back into One Piece. It needs to stop being so bloody addicting. Oi.

So that is my highly exciting life (hahaha yeah) as of late. Now to the music meme, which I can't seem to stay on top of to save my life 8D

Day 16: A song that you used to love but now hate

I used to know all the words and everything. Then I heard "Will the Real Slim Shady Please Shut Up" and decided I liked that a whole lot more.

Day 17: A song that you hear often on the radio

Would you believe I've heard this one on the radio in Colorado multiple times? They really seem to like it. Can't blame 'em. :Db

Day 18: A song that you wish you heard on the radio

The world needs more Lucky Boys Confusion. Trufax.

All Thirty Days )
Maaaaaan has it been a long weekend. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I am still tired. Wow. XD

Highlights included:
- Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] universejuice 8D
- Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] purapea, [livejournal.com profile] lynxgriffin, and [livejournal.com profile] ggmoonycrisco
- Convincing Sarah and GG that there really was another drop at the end of Pirates
- DELICIOUS PINEAPPLE
- 100% accuracy on hitchhiking ghost calling
- Getting the ride operator on Space Mountain, who usually ignores the cars, to wave to us two days in a row; The first guy even gave us air fives
- Learning just how far the splash zone of World of Color extends (hint: a hell of a lot farther than you'd think)
- Maleficent's Imagination = Hell
- "I'm on a horse."
- "The fierce jungle duck is attacking that hippo!"
- "I haven't seen a feeding frenzy like that since college."
- Standing in line for half an hour one day to get pictures with Mickey
- Trekking halfway across the park and back to get pictures with Mickey
- "You just want to sit on my lap."
- Finding out that the pipes in the boiler room of the Tower of Terror have voices, which was exceedingly creepy
- "At least it's not the awkward pony."

Downsides included the woman at the front of the line for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride collapsing from overheating (she was fine) and getting sunscreen in my eye, but those were a few small bad things in a weekend of overwhelming good. Fantastic times were had by all, and pictures will be up as soon as I can get them off my camera. :Db

In other tangentially related news, I kind of want to get back into One Piece. I get the feeling this will be an undertaking. 8Da

And because I'm five flipping days behind, have some music!

Day 11: A song from your favorite band

This one actually gave me some issues. I don't usually pick favorites with bands - I listen to just about everything, so saying YES FAVORITE BAND EVER is tough. However, Bob Seger is one of the few artists that I get upset over when people don't know his music, so though he's not OMG The Favorite, he's up there. (Yes, I know this is the second Bob Seger song I've put up. No, I don't care. 8D)

Then again, there is also the band that, as far as I'm concerned, has never done a bad song.

Day 12: A song from a band you hate

Gag me.

Day 13: A song that is a guilty pleasure

They call it a guilty pleasure for a reason. Yes, I still have the entire CD.

Day 14: A song that no one would expect you to love

It can be annoying as hell, but it's such an earworm and I love it. It also goes under the "songs you can dance to" category - I'm pretty sure Shannon has video of that.

Day 15: A song that describes you

|Db
Also, this is the video that introduced me to the song. I'm a tad biased.

All 30 Days )
Of course, by "the ocean" I mean Linkara.

Emails~ )

He ^_^-ed at me and everything~ I am so stoked 8D

And then I will be at Disneyland all weekend, which severely cuts into my app-writing time. No matter- I shall prevail! (Of course, since I linked him the game, I had better do a damn good job, I think. ;;;)

Music time because why not~

Day 10: A song that makes you fall asleep

I don't usually fall asleep to music; this one, however, does help me relax quite a bit. (I also arranged an a capella version at one point, though I couldn't get anyone to perform it with me.) I loved this song before I knew what it was.

I had forgotten that some of my best writing and craziest ideas come sometime after midnight. Sadly, that's when I try to get in bed so I can get up on time for my job, which takes place during my notably unproductive hours of the day. If there were some way for me to work from home after nine or ten p.m., I feel like I'd be much more productive. This is the problem with holding a day job when you're nocturnal.

Having a good time in [livejournal.com profile] secondcityrpg, though. Wolf belts turned out to be just as much trauma-inducing goodness as I'd thought. I've also discovered I write ridiculously long narratives when I'm in the mood.

Speaking of Second City, those of you who were with me in chat after one last night this morning already saw this crazy idea, but...I want to app Linkara. Yes, that Linkara. I also promised to email him and ask his permission (what the hell, self) before I wrote an app. I plan on doing that sometime tonight. Watch this space for more updates, I guess.

Also on the calendar for tonight: seeing The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Canon, as soon as he tells me what time we're going. Hopefully not too late or I won't be able to go. Hmm.

...oh man it's at 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. THAT'S BETTER THAN TLA. I CAN HOPE. I THINK.

Enough of that madness. Let's have yet another day of that music meme.

Day 09: A song that you can dance to

Oh jeez, how about half my iPod?

In the interests of narrowing it down, I took the two songs on the mix currently in my car that make me want to dance whenever they come on, even if it's when I'm doing 70 southbound on the 101. Don't worry: I'm a safe drive-dancer.

This video isn't the entire song, but it's well worth it for the choreography and the sequence itself. I absolutely love this show.

IF CHRISTOPHER WALKEN CAN DANCE TO IT, ANYONE CAN DANCE TO IT. HELL YEAH.
Also, the better versions of this video all had embedding disabled. Still, you get the point.

All 30 Days )

Also, you all knew the Old Spice guy is doing personalized video responses to comments on Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, Yahoo, Reddit, and just about any other social networking website you can think of, right? Go check that stuff out. They're awesome. XDb
It's a lot of same-old same-old over here - work's tough in eight-hour stints, I'm alone in the apartment, RP's chugging along at a good pace, and I'm both trying to and trying not to convince myself to pick up Wizardmon and/or the Prinny Squad over at [livejournal.com profile] secondcityrpg.

This is to say that applications are open and I am stoked and a half about week change. Werewolf belts what. And I have a muse dumb enough to try to figure one out.

Here's a hint: it's not Rosette.

Yeah.

I decided to do that writing meme that's going around using the sample from that EBA/DW fic that's supposedly going to get written whenever my creative writing drive returns ahaha.

I write like
Margaret Atwood

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

You know, I am perfectly alright with this. :Db

Anyways! Youtube spam time!

Strangely enough, this is [livejournal.com profile] nalina's song and [livejournal.com profile] universejuice's and [livejournal.com profile] edward_hyde's anime, but the video just strikes a chord (despite its regrettable lack of Franky):

The definition of nakama, ladies and gentlemen.

ALSO. 8D. I found the Best Comedy/Best in Show AMV! Quality's nothing special since it's a recording of the presentation (since Scintilla won't release the video until the 30th), but it's here and it is still full of lulz.

It's also a major earworm. :Db

And now for the music meme!

Day 08: A song that you know all the words to

...shut up it's on my playlist. Plus, it's true. I'll bet a good number of you remember the words to this OR to I Want It That Way. /linefaces at

All 30 days )

In other news, there was a fire in the hills north of my work today. Good times. o_o

Also CHECK OUT THE BRAND NEW ICON~ I really needed that when I went on my Responsible Chore Spree Saturday and really was cleaning all the things.
This was one of those weekends when everyone wanted some of my time. I went from planning on hanging out with zero people to hanging out with six or seven, some multiple times. I got cheesecake and meals and slurpees out of the deal, though. Good times. |Db

SO YES I am two days behind on that music meme and it's nearly Monday, so I'm doing three days at once. YAY PROCRASTINATION

Day 05: A song that reminds you of someone

This and every other song on this CD will remind me of my dad. He's the one who got me into classic rock to begin with, and this CD would always be in the car when he picked me up from dance class. Ah, nostalgia.

Day 06: A song that reminds you of somewhere

Oh, Cheyenne. First concert, first foray into country, first time I moved back to somewhere I'd left when that particular move was over. Spent two years missing Colorado. |D

Day 07: A song that reminds you of a certain event

THIS IS AN UNANNOUNCED GAMEWIDE EVENT

Six hours until you die

Yeeeeeah I love you guys. XD ♥

The full meme )

Also, Digimon marathons = awesome. I love nineties dubbing and just how dumb characters can be.

( Jul. 8th, 2010 08:53 am)
Somehow it only takes me one day to get behind on a thirty-day meme. Then again, last night's giant margaritas and falling asleep on the couch may well have had something to do with it. There is something incredibly strange about waking up at 12:40 a.m. and realizing you need to go to bed. Of course, this was after a fantastic night with [livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada, [livejournal.com profile] jedizero, and Canon, who needs a LJ. I shall have to bother him.

SO YES how 'bout that meme:

Day 02: Your least favorite song

This is namely because nobody on the internet knows the name of that ringtone ([livejournal.com profile] amorsinseramada knows exactly what I'm talking about) and I therefore cannot embed it. This one just makes the English graduate in me facepalm. Has the girl never read Romeo and Juliet?

Day 03: A song that makes you happy

I dare you all to listen to this song without smiling. Go on. Do it.

Yeah, didn't think so.

I've actually heard Mika described as this generation's Freddy Mercury, and I'd buy it. He's the first guy in a long time that I haven't straight up hated for his ability to hit notes higher than I can, and I think that's namely because he's just so much fun. So yes, Mika = fun and this song = happy.

The list of songs )

I'm starting to think that headache is psychosomatic. It started again right when I walked into work.
kiaxet: (AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH)

GUESS WHO'S HAD A LONG FLIPPIN' DAY

KIA'S HAD A LONG FLIPPIN' DAY

Despite this having nothing to do with orange soda, I am incredibly tempted to follow that up with I do I do I do I do I do-oo~

The long and short of it is, I woke up today with the same headache I had yesterday. The general decided to visit on top of that, so I spent my entire work shift in head and back pain. I couldn't concentrate for the whole day, my supervisor was out sick so I couldn't chat with her - we could email back and forth, but I didn't want to do too much of that since she's sick - and less than an hour before I was to leave, I got an email with one piece to be completed before tomorrow, two before Thursday, and two before Friday, on top of the two other projects I have due tomorrow and Thursday respectively.

It was a little crazy.

BUT THAT IS ENOUGH OF THAT! I have me es to complete! This one's stolen from pretty much everyone on my flist:

The Fifteen Pictures Meme!
- Post ten to fifteen of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.
- NO CAPTIONS! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.
- They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.
- You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.

I didn't go for self expressive so much as funny. )

I'm also going to try one of those crazy 30-day memes. I saw [livejournal.com profile] bhujerba doing this one and I am quite enjoying it. SO: Thirty days of songs!

01: Your favorite song.

I figure for now "favorite" will be "most played on iTunes."

You expected differently?

I've worked on that project all weekend and I'm taking a break before I go crash out and get up early for my internship tomorrow. Might as well do something mindless, like a meme that's been going around like the plague, right? 8Db

Have a gigantic meme )

And with that, my first day of internship is tomorrow. Wish me luck~!
I really need to learn to edit my posts instead of spamming you all into oblivion, huh. XD

FIRST THING: I am teaching a class on the internet!

For porn, porn, porn, yeah I know, get it all out of your systems XD

I volunteered to do my presentation first for my Writing for Technology class, so a week from now I'm going to be giving a thirty-to-forty-minute-long presentation on internet culture, specifically how knowing the culture will help a writer write for and relate to (and possibly understand feedback from) their audience. Those of you who were wondering why I asked for memes the other day, this is it. I'm going to give them a basic rundown of well-known and oft-referenced websites and memes, including:

4chan
icanhascheezburger
ONTD
Failblog
FMyLife
MyLifeIsAverage yes I have seen MyLifeIsTwilight and if you suggest I show that to the class I reserve the right to stab you through the internets
Tv Tropes

rickrolling
macros
Chuck Norris
liek mudkips
Caramelldansen
all your base
im in ur base
leekspin
"...PROFIT!" lists

As well as a list of things to avoid:

/b/ and all other not work safe 4chan boards
goatse
/b/
tubgirl
/b/
two girls one cup
/b/

Guess who traumatized herself doing research for her anonymity paper. 8D

So, my wonderful flist, this is where I turn to you: what popular memes and websites have I missed that obviously need to be covered in class? Videos, text, pictures, anything is fair game, so long as it falls under "meme." Also, if anyone has any documentation of these memes going down - screencaps of the April Fool's Day when dA turned everyone's icon to a mudkip, or video of the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends float rickrolling everyone live during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - please link it, because that's the sort of thing that makes a powerpoint awesome. If anyone has anything that needs to be added to the AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE list, let me know that too, but please do not link them. Seriously. Please.

SECOND THING: [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti evidently has an auction for food products, and I would like to contribute. I can do cookies 8Db I'm not sure cherry bars will ship, since they have frosting, but magic bars, cheesecake cookies, and pumpkin butterscotch cookies should all ship pretty well. GUYS WHAT SHOULD I OFFER

Also! If you're offering something on the auctions, link your thread here! I should like to see and bid on things :Db

( Dec. 19th, 2009 12:11 am)
Lesson of the night: a martini that involves creme liquer and vodka will eventually curdle. Drink it before it becomes alcoholic yogurt.

Not quite sure why I'm still drinking the thing. I might need a spoon soon.

I had some epic and rather embarrassing adventures in cooking today. My task was to make cherry bars (which went off without a hitch) and peppermint fudge. For those of you who have had it, peppermint fudge is melted white chocolate and pounded candy canes mixed together, spread out, allowed to set, and then broken into pieces. It is basically the easiest dessert ever. We usually melt the chocolate in the microwave - heat in small increments and stir in between so it doesn't burn.

I don't know why, but for some reason today I just could not melt chocolate. I don't know if it was because the microwave is having issues (Mom called the repairman and he's coming tomorrow) or if it was because we used Ghiradelli chocolate chips instead of Toll House, but I could not make it work. The first batch somehow wound up with the consistency and smell of cheese - I have no idea how that happened - and the second batch had the consistency of Play-Doh.

I had a lot of fun with the second batch. |D

Peppermint fudge never happened for tonight's party, but Oreo truffles and cherry bars did, and they were both well worth it. :3

Also - and this is completely different - I'm not really having problems with my brother's girlfriend anymore. Something's changed in the few weeks I was back at Pepperdine, namely the fact that she doesn't make me want to break walls with my face anymore. I'm going to try to reserve judgment until I see more of her, which I inevitably will. We'll see how this goes.

And now, it's time to catch up on memes. Huzzah~

Comment and I'll give you three fandoms, for which you must answer these:

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] deltashade gave me Doctor Who, Disgaea, and Chrno Crusade, while [livejournal.com profile] universejuice gave me Discworld, Elite Beat Agents, and Sonic.

I'm sure you're all so interested in hearing this. )

I also ran across one of these in [livejournal.com profile] sandsdream's journal, and since I love this type of meme I had to go for it. |Db

Crack Pairings Romance Meme:

Pick 10 characters from as many fandoms as you wish and assign them each a number. Then answer 16 questions. Let the lulz begin.

1. Rosette (Chrno Crusade)
2. Agent J (Elite Beat Agents)
3. Donna Noble (Doctor Who)
4. Luxord (Kingdom Hearts II)
5. Silver the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
6. DEATH (Discworld)
7. Flonne (Disgaea)
8. Agent Foxx (Elite Beat Agents)
9. The Doctor (Doctor Who)
10. The Genie (Aladdin)

If all else fails, this should be interesting. )

Well, that was indeed interesting. |Db

Also, my paid account dies in four days. Once it does, would somebody be willing to send me one of those magical certificates so's I can renew it please? :3
Choir concert was a success! I am pleased. :3 Hopefully we can pick up a recording for it sometime next semester, because I'd love to have one.

I was very pleased with myself today! Monologue coaching went well, concert went well, no other classes aside from that, and the Christmas tree lighting was beautimous. Very very good day. Tomorrow is an interview with Sodahead.com, which is for an internets internship, which would be awesome. There is also a G Phi Christmas party, huzzah. Good times. :Db

And today's Woot shirt is awesome. Do want.

Oh hey um. Those who have read my EBA fic, I'm debating linking it on [livejournal.com profile] agentsarego. Y/N/M/WTF?

I suppose tonight's goal is to finish the post-structuralist paper and get sleep enough to be coherent tomorrow. Good times, good times.

I leave you with a bucketload of memes, because memes are fun:

On the twelfth day of Christmas, yamikonumber7 sent to me...
Twelve snakesonasoras drumming
Eleven viewtiful_jeffs writing
Ten drunkkitsunes a-reading

Kind of an eclectic mix there, huh. A lot of these are shows I watched with my family - we have a habit of discussing thing while they're airing. Yay family time. |Db

I LIIIIIIIIVE

[/Mushu]

Yeah, I've been home for about a day. Twenty-seven degrees outside and I am living in my fluffy faux-fur lined hoodie. This thing is fantastic. The other fantastic thing was getting sleep oh my goodness. Slept in until nearly noon. Yaaaaay :Db

I shall probably come off hiatus tonight. I do have some homework to get done over break (yay Lit Theory), but life's stopped attempting to eat me and I feel like I might be able to pull a small canon review for a few characters and really get back into things. Huzzah for actual excitement for my games :Db

I've been doing more tutoring for my brother these past few days than I have these past few weeks for the writing center. He's in the middle of college essay season, so we've been looking over his stuff. This is to say nothing of the essay he had me check for him over the phone. He dictated it to me while I was in the car on the way to New Moon. That was a very interesting night. ._.

I have no idea what's going on with Glee tonight. Things have gotten interesting and what the hell, Kurt. While we're at it, what the hell, Puck. Everyone's gone crazier than they normally are.

...oh screw coherency have a few videos.

Because the Muppets make everything better, obviously.

And finally, that meme that's been going around:

1) Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/bands that you've had an obsessive fannish love or interest in at some time in your life.
2) Have your f-list guess your favorite character/member from each item.
3) When someone guesses correctly, strike through the item and put the name of your favorite character next to it.
4) One Guess Per Fandom

So it's a few less than 20 )
Title courtesy of MLIA. That website. So accursedly addicting.

Scheduling actually worked out okay. I have all the classes I need to take next semester (all...one of them), can keep my health insurance so long as I stay at nine units (which I have), and can also keep my housing and my scholarship. This means that I will be a part-time student with nine units next semester. Awesome, awesome, and awesome. Now all I need to do is find an internship and I'm set.

...part-time students don't have to do convo, do they?

Anyways. Meme. Stolen from and tagged by [livejournal.com profile] sandsdream:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

More of a homework break, actually, but who's counting.

I've gotten some assignments done today, but that Structuralism paper's still hanging over my head. I don't know why I'm having so many issues getting into it. I was kind of hoping to have it done early this afternoon, but considering I didn't wake up until noon (which was lovely) and wasn't really functional until two, that plan went to waste. I'd like to have it done before I leave for my friend's party at nine, but again, odds of that are pretty poor. I might just marathon the sucker Sunday night. My usual MO works, right? |D

That said! Book meme real fast! Then I do dinner and attempt to pound out some words. Grr.

I really wish I had more books on my shelf, but such is to be expected in college. )

Wow, these all wound up much more obscure than I expected. XD
